problem with my z560's and soundcard

i have the integrated audio sound card that comes with the ak72 mobo (AC97 Audio)

sound does not come out of my rear speakers unless i put on m3d. I plugged in the rear output jack, so i know that isnt the problem... is this normal? does sound just come out of the rear speakers when watching dvd's?

ahh, i believe that AC97 is only 2 channel audio, correct me if i'm wrong. I just got a set of z560's and i'm still trying to figure things out

You need to buy a 1/8" monoaural splitter from Radio Shack (cat. # 42-2437). It has a 1/8" male connector on end and 2 1/8" female jacks.

Connect this to your male end to your line-out on PC and connect the 2 female ends to the front (green) and rear (black) connectors on the control pod. Turn the fade button all the way up. You might have to turn off M3d if you want equal volume out of all 4 speakers.

hmm... well, there is a place to stick the front channel and rear channel speaker plug, so i would think sound would come out of all 4 speakers without m3d?

Are you just using the 2-channel sound from your motherboard? Does it just have 1 line-out jack for outputting audio? If so, you need to buy the splitter. It's like $4.99 from Radio Shack

my mobo has 3 audio jacks... 1 for front speakers, one for back, and one for mic... i plugged in the rear and front, but sound doesnt come out of the rear without m3d enabled on my z560 control center

So you're using the z560s with the crappy on-board AC97 codec? You're sure that not a little dwarf is sitting in your computer and is beatboxing the sound and has not enough power to supply all the speakers with sound?

I know what the z560s are, mister-"the most helpful". And ahm.... read my post before commenting.... don't just read "power".

my line-in was muted. i unmuted that and some other things, like aux and mic, but i still get no rear audio without m3d

your AC97 audio is most likely does not have a rear out - you are probably mistaking the line-in for the rear out. Either that, or you need to enable 4 speaker output somewhere in sound settings (dunno where as I've never used AC97 audio...heh)

Problem solved... Go to that link, PM him, send him $35, install new GOOD sound card, problem is gone, soundcard is now worthy of these speakers for shame... onboard audio

hey... i found a cmi8738/c3dx in one of my piles of hardware... i cant seem to get it to work in xp, it detects it and says its working fine, but i cant get it to produce any sound....
