I am trying to help a friend set up an internet connection. They have road runner, and one computer connects to the internet, but the other one doesn't (says there is limited connectivity). I did an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, but the renew didn't work. I thought it might be the built-in network adapter, and installed an old network adapter from linksys that I KNOW works, but I get the same problem. I tried to test the cat5e cable, that is fine as well.
She has a usb wireless card installed, and I know that there are some times when the installation of the USB wireless card changes the configuration on the network, so I went into the configuration>Advanced but there wasn't a property called Link Speed/Duplex, but only a Media Type. I changed that from AutoSense to 100BaseTX_Full Duplex, but it still didn't work.
Is there something I am doing wrong? Or is there anything I am not doing? Does anyone have any idea how I get it to work? I'd greatly appreciate any insight. Thanks.
