problem with NFS: underground

when i try to run NFS underground, the screen flickers and freezes (the very first title screen)

is there a conflict with cat 3.9?

turn off AA. it doesnt seem to work with the motion blurry in UG. or... get into UG and turn off motion blurring and then u can turn AA back on. read this over @ the NFS UG community forums. i think only radeons are affected.

i have cat 3.9s and i've got a bunch of issues with my 9700 pro

all these are at 1280 with aa/af on or off
-on the car select screen, if you look at the wheels, they do not roll smoothly, but skip back and forth...
-when the race starts. the person who flags you off does not have smooth motion...kind of hard to describe

during the race everything is fine, with or without aa/af

anyone else seeing these? or are they normal?

do you have fast writes enabled in the smartgart tab? i know that causes lockups in COD...maybe for nfsug too?
i also recall some people had to drop their agp rates to 4x to get COD working

Works fine with the nvidia drivers lol, sry I cant help though. Google shows lots of results where ppl have having the same problem.

i have nfs and im running with no problem. using 3.9 drivers with 9800 pro.
i have all settings to max, fast write on, AA on, agp8x.

Are you running from CD? maybe CD is un-readable, try cleaning it.

Try using a refresh fix, if you are using one and still run into problems, try loading back the defaults refresh rate.

Can't really think of anything else that may cause a problem. Good Luck

-Off HDD? using a crack? if so, check if there is another version available.

-if it still not working, try removing the crack (if used) and use the cd to run instead.

I can't play my game at any higher than 800x600 with my 9700 Pro

I can finish the first race... and when I move onto the next race, when the screen comes up to the starting line, the screen is black. so i CTRL ALT DELETE and get out of the game... start it up and it works fine again until one of the races is completed. if I run 800x600 it's fine (that's what ive been doing)

I have a 9700 Pro w/3.9's
Win2k with SP4.

My hard freezes now and i have to reboot w/ the restart button. I'm on a radeon 8500 w/ the cat. 3.9 but i upgraded from the 3.4's cause it started doing the same thing. I have yet to open my computer and dust it out though so that might be the problem. I can play other games fine. I don't think your problem relates to dust though because you have a pretty damn new card lol.

Do you have the second cd on drive when you launch the game?
I remembered that the first time I installed it, it hanged because I haven't put the cd.

Hmm, no problems for me. I'm running 12x10 res without AA, but 4X AF and it works perfectly. The beginning cutscenes of each race used to be choppy, but after turning off AA, everything was fine.

Just a side note, how the heck do you beat that last drift track on hard?! The computer player always ends up getting 2000-4000 more style points... and I have beaten all the other drift races on hard....

Do you really get anything besides more money from running the hard races? Seems like I've gotten more stuff by racing the easy ones and getting tons of style points. BTW... what good is earning more money if you can only own one car at a time?

I can absolutely KILL the other players on hard in the drift races.. but I haven't gotten to the last one yet.. I like using the WRX in the drift races!!

The same here with the full version. Damn, playing 800x600 in a 17" LCD is frustrating.
