Problem with Overclocking 4830

Just installed an MSI 4830 on a another system and found out why it couldn't be OC'ed. Cats 9.2, 9.3, and 9.4 disable the OC regardless what settings are used in RivaTuner. Going back to Cat 9.1 allows for OC'ing.

Good to see that the new 9.5 betas fix the OCing problem with MSI cards. I'll wait a few more days until the official release.

ah yeah, i figured that out pretty quickly after trying to OC with 9.4 and got the 9.5 beta, which seem to work fine for me so far.

It's interesting though. I have to retract the 745/1100 and am starting from scratch. Worked just fine with ATI artifact tester, and ran Vantage no prob, but when I go into Farcry and Furmark, I get lockups. So grrr.... oh well, I'll start over with a little more juice.

Best of luck :thumbsup:, make sure you're overclocking both the core and memory separately, and then doing your final stability testing together.

fc1 or fc2? I noticed that i got artifacts when i tried fc2, or rather, trees and other details disappear and reappear as a moved around. But any other game i tested with, i didn't get any kind of artifacts or problems with textures. I think fc2 is just a bit tough on the gpu/vram more so than most games.

I also noticed temps were a few degrees hotter in fc2 compared to other games i tried.

FC2 and Crysis are commonly known as two of the most graphically demanding (hardwarewise) games on the market right now.
