Problem with the XP 138gb limit

I have XP SP1, using a ATA100 card(with latest drivers), and Atapi.sys ver 5.1.2600.1135. Using a WD 200GB PATA hard drive

The problem is, before any hardware change, the hard drive was a master with a 80gb slave. This worked with no problems. After removing the slave and re-jumpering the drive to a master w/o a slave, suddenly the drive is only recognized as 128gb in Windows(still shows up as 186GB under the ata bios scan). Is there something I did wrong?

Stick with cable select jumper setting. You might have jumpered the size limit.

With any ide drive, the master should be at the end of the ide cable and the slave in the middle.

I got the drive working by just doing everything all over again. Removed the card and hard drive and drivers. And just force installed everything back in.
For future reference, and some advice, make sure your Windows works with a >137GB hard drive before installing one. I lost all of my partitions and data that were beyond the 137GB barrier.
