I have an ABIT NF7-S2G motherboard and I have connected two hard drives, 120GB Primary master and 250GB primary slave, both PATA. I have windows loaded on 120GB primary master. In the bios, it sometimes is not able to detect them. While booting, it sometimes stops at the "detecting IDE devices screen".
Sometimes, it does boot all the way to windows (XP), but sometimes, it gives me an error message saying that it is not able to detect the boot disk, insert boot disk and press enter. When it does that, I am forced to reinstall windows.
While this is a problem, an even more pressing concern is that it doesn't even finish installing windows when it says that it is unable to find the disks. I first thought that it was a cable problem or a hard drive problem. I replaced the cable, but it doesn't seem to satisfy it. Now I think that it could be a hard drive problem or a problem with the motherboard. Does anyone have any input on this? Thanks.
