Well i hope thats enough info on my computer to help with this problem. This is a new computer, i built it and this is the first thing that happened, so this is the first time it was switched on. The problem is, with all these put together, well i get a big black screen throughout the whole booting up process, the coding on the digital readout goes through all the right boot up codes and everything and then sticks on 7F which means floppy drive problem... well i don't have one, so all i do is press F1 and it goes to FF, meaning its booting up. So i get a blank black screen throughout, my monitor is in standby mode and doesn't receive a signal.
The process of i gone through to check what i can to narrow down the problem.
1. Try EVGA's problem shooting, this is the taking of RAM out and trying with different sticks in each slot. Nothing changes.
2. Try different power cable. Try different power connector (theres 2 different PCI-E cables from the PSU). Try different 8 to 6 pin connector. Try the PCI-E modular cable. Nothing changes.
3. Try different monitor and DVI cable. Try VGA cable. Nothing changes.
4. Try different graphics card. TADDA!!!! My old 1900XT 512 works! I get a BIOS screen and everything!.
5. Try 8800GTS 512 in old computer. TADDA!!!! My new 8800GTS 512 works! I get a Windows screen and everything!.
6. Change everything back.... 8800GTS 512 doesn't work in new computer.
7. Try PSU from old computer to power external 6pin power on the 8800GTS 512. Nothing changes.
So in summary, ive tried everything. And everything works... Now the problem is, why the hell isn't it working in the configuration i want it too!!!!!
Is there a compatibility issue with the Gainward 8800GTS 512 to the EVGA nforce 680i SLI Motherboard?
My Old computer specs are...
Asus P5B Deluxe
Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo
X1900 XT 512 (think its Powercolor)
2GB OCZ Something Rev. 2
WD Raptor 74Gb
Samsung 300Gb
560w Hiper PSU
Audigy 2 ZS
Hope you guys can help, because im completely confused that everything works fine, but doesn't want to work together, have my components never heard of team work?
