AMD 2200+, GeForce4 4200, 768 MB PC2100, Soyo Dragon, 400 watt PS
In some games I see, serrated lines, ink blots and spires. Also sometimes in games my weapon selection menu will pop up and it will very quickly scroll through all the weapons, not allowing me to shoot any of them. It makes a very fast clicking noise as it scroll through the weapons. I can't use vehicle weapons either. I have to end the game and restart. I have the latest patch installed.

Nothing is overclocked.
I tried the latest Detonator drivers and now I am having sound issues.
Here is part of dxdiag. If you need more of it LMK.
Thanks.

Those drivers caused the sound problems. I rolled back to an earlier driver.
My refresh rate is at 85.

Was the problem there from the start, or did it happen after some driver upgrade/hardware upgrade?

You might want to try finding registry entries in the registry and deleting all the nVidia ones. Try uninstalling the Det's, ure Det destroyer or something, then reinstall.

And, sorry bout this, but, Oh look, someone with an nVidia card is having issues. How can that be, nVidia are perfect
.

I know that nVidia drivers and stuff can be frustrating, I can;t really seem to find any that work perfectly, unless I have a fresh install of Windows.

When I bought my video cards (Ti 4400) semi-recently, it was BF1942 that gave the first indication that one of the two I bought was (almost)DOA
symptoms were similar to what you describe. (flashing areas of mis-aligned textures)

Fortunately, with the second card, I could see an apples to apples proof (if you will...) that the first one needed RMA'd. (your isn't Gainward is it?)

Anyway, the game runs great if the card is good (hdwr. and sw.)

PS: I had a weird thing with the 44.xx dets. also. Everything was fine except then the windows sound played as a user logged in, it would studder ridiculously like a tommy-gun or something. (something changed in the way NVidia is initializing with newest dets.) But once the user settings were in place, everything was normal.

(I rolled back to the 43.45 also)

The problem has existed from the start. At first it didn't manifest itself until about the third time I played then it only did it once in a while. Now it does it every time. I ran 3DMark2001SE to see how it was affected and the "spires" are there too. They didn't used to be. Also 3DMark will not run all the way through and it always did in the past. I un-installed BF 1942 and the problem still exists in 3DMark.
My Video card is an Albatron. Their site is severely lacking in the help department. I guess when I am bored I will un-install then reinstall the card.

Make sure it is seated all the way in the agp slot and that there is NO dust in there (blow it out if you can).

And I would like to see your complete dxdiagnostic!

thanks

The test is too long to post here, I emailed it to the address in your profile.

I un-installed the video card and deleted all references to nvidia in the registry. I re-installed the latest detonator drivers and shut the machine down. I opened the case, blew out the dust (not much), left the side panel off and restarted. I set it up as 1024x768x32 85 hertz. I started 3DMark2001SE and the "Spires/spikes" are still present.
Insidious may have nailed it as I am now suspecting the card.
