I have two servers at remote locations that use adaptec 2100s raid cards w/ seagate sca drives, these drives have sca-68 pin adaptors on them. In the past 18months i have warrantied 3 drives. One of the servers started crashing on a semi regular basis. I won't go into details unless someone requests, but anyways I ended up calling adaptec, thinking the raid card is f@cked, as soon as he found out that we used adaptors, he said he wouldn't warranty the card, cuz adaptec nor seagate support adaptors, and they are usually at fault. I was pointed this link at seagate:
seagate
at the very bottom in the disclaimer....
SO....how many of you use these adaptors? how many think they are an issue? a few of my friends say that adaptec is on crack......
