:disgust:

I have just built my new system and through my stupid ass frineds advice decided to go for the

Abit IP35-E motherboard along with

Interl E8400 3.0Ghz chip
4gb Corsair 6400 4-4-4-12 timings
500gb Maxtor HHD
HX620watt Corsair modular PSU
coupled with a spare ATI Radeon Sapphire 3450 512mb (I will be replacing a bit later, one I get some more cash)

Everything is working fine. I have the same issue where id double boots, which should be fixed by updating the bios. However every time I leave the system switched off for more than an hour the graphics card is not detected. I get a loud ongoing beep and no boot or post. If there is no been then simply there is nothing showing on my monitor. In order to fix the problem I have to remov the graphics card and reinsert it. It is nothing to do with the graphics card itself as I have a old Nvidia 6200 pci-e and it does the same thing. If left off for more than an hour it wount recognise the graphics card untill removed and reinserted.

Has anyone had this issue and how did you managet to fix??? Help please, before I loose my patience and get a rediculously overpriced Asus Striker 2 Extreme, and waste my money

I have the same Abit board and it always has trouble when I shut the power off for a while. The key is just not unplugging the computer or hitting the switch on the power supply. You can shut the computer down, just don't shut off power to the board.

I bet you don't need to pull the video card and then reinsert it, you could probably just clear the bios with the jumper on the board and that would do the trick too.

These Abit boards rock so don't get rid of it. I have an E6300 that would not run at 7 X 400 on a Gigabyte P35-DS3L, but it runs at 7 X 400 easy on the Abit. Same power supply in each situation, same everything. The Gigabyte was rock solid at 7 X 333 so it's not a bad board, but just lacking a bit in the overclocking department when compared to the Abit.

Thanks for the advice, I will try. Did you have to do the reset eachand every time you restarted your PC??? I have never unpluged the PC from the wall socket and the motherboard has had continuous power no breaks and the problem persisted.

Everything was working fine last night but this morning not even removing the graphics card did the trick. I even inserted the old Nvidia and still the annoying beep and no post. I left it untill I get back home from work and will try again.

I have to say its a shame as the board does have soime great potential a the price but I fear I will have to spend more to get something reliable and bug free.

why are you sure that it's the gfx card not being detected & that it isn't something like the POST not progressing far enough to enable it?
Can you say if that is 4x1GB or RAM or 2x2GB (a link to the exact kit would be ideal) & also what voltage you have it set at?
If it's on an early enough BIOS to double boot when standby power has been maintained then I would strongly consider updating the BIOS, that may also have an effect on your problem.

The only reason I say its the graphics cars is I took the whole thing apart and put it back together with the nvidia card and it worked.

I then reinserted the ATI and this also worked. I assumed this was the problem or one of the parts had got loose. Everytihng worked during the night so I switched it off as normal (windows shut down). In the morning the same problem persisted. Annoying beep or alarm going of. No overclocking yet. It may be an issue with the post. Do you recommend updating bios and clearing CMOS??? The full speck:

I just tried doing everything, removed battery all the components and inserted minimum (CPU, memory 1 dimm, graphics card) and no joy. Got to say relly dissapointed should never have moved away from ASUS. I think its a lesson learned:

'You get what you pay for'

Take head!!!

can you describe the annoying beep or alarm?
I would at least upgrade the BIOS.

out of interest when it hangs if you hit F1 will it go any further?
USB or PS/2 keyboard?

It lasts for about 5 seconds and then it starts up again and keeps going. I counted up to 7 and Im sure it would have carried on but I got annoyed with listening to it. I disconnected every part and removed the battery. I also replaced the memory with some crapy memory my friend had and still the same anoying beeping. If I was to describe it it sounds like a siren of some sort (annoying as hell).

I didnt try pressing F1 as there was no power to the monitor and I assumed the beep would mean nothing will work. I had the keyboard on USB today but previous times it was connected through the PS/2.

Either way I have removed the board, packed it up and contacted the supplier. I got to call them tomorrow to arrage a return. Incidentaly I can not wait for them to test it and send me another or a refund so I ordered the Asus P5Q Deluxe P45 which is new and being ASUS I would hope a lot more reliable. Should be arriving on Tuesday. Ill post how I get on with that. (However the ASUS was more than double the cost and not really any better than the ABIT, shame to waste money I think but...)

If anyone has used one of the new P45 chips yet, how are they finding them??? Any problems??? How is the overclockiking??? I have read a few reviews and as usual they say everything is spot on so they are not really a good indicator.

Either way Ill post how I get on.

I've already seen 1 chap report problems with a P45 (an MSI mobo) ... could just be a DOA though.
Also, the tech rep from 1 mobo mfr on another forum says that it's currently a bit touchy re. memory compatability.

Damn it. I was 50-50 between the ASUS Asus P5Q Deluxe P45 and the ASUS Rampage Formula Republic of Gamers Series iX48. Just hope its smooth sailing and no more alarms going off.
