Problems with AGP on Uli 1695

Well, I'm trying to get my 9800 Pro to work in my Uli 1695. Seems to be in working order.... until...

I run 3DMARK05 and get a score of 800. Now, this surprises me since on my old setup (2500+ Barton and A7N8X, which I can no longer use due to board problems) I managed to get 2800 or more with no problems.

Now, I take a look in Everest 2.2 and it says AGP is disabled. ATI also says AGP is turned off. Now, this surprises me since I have an AGP 9800 Pro. I enable AGP 8x, and restart. No dice, doesn't let me.

I open up the BIOS, and sure as rain, my primary card is still selected as AGP, and AGP 8x and fast write are enabled.

I've tried reinstalling the catalyst drivers a few times, with no luck.

And it seems I cannot install the AGP Uli drivers, as it does not allow me to.

Please help.

Wierd, it sounds as if the video card is running as a pci card instead of agp.

In for answer....curious. I thought it ran the AGP card through the PCI interface anyway on that motherboard.

It doesn't. It supports native AGP 8x and PCI-Express x16.

I've read that you need to install the uli drivers first, before your cards drivers. I don't have the link, but it was in a big Asrock 939 thread, possibly at [Hforums]
It seems there's no fix but to reformat.

Hmm, I've reformatted my harddrive 4 times in the past 48 hours... what hurt in doing it again?

Too bad my copy of Windows XP automatically recognizes and installs the drivers for my 9800 Pro before I even first boot to desktop.

No, it installs the gfx card drivers before first time I see the desktop. First boot I see 1280x1024 resolution and Default Monitor on 9800 Pro when I go to change it in display options.

Eh, fixed the problem I believe. Had to use my Windows 2000 CD instead of XP, but I really don't care.

Try:
1. Install WinXP
2. Install Driver Cleaner Text
3. In Device Manager, uninstall Display Driver.
4. Boot in F8/Safe Mode, and run Driver Cleaner.
5. Reboot in normal mode, install ULi chipset drivers.
6. Reboot
7. Install latest Radeon drivers.
