Problems with GeForce4MX/MSIKT333

I have a really weird new problem:

Until I upgrade my video card I am stuck with a GeForce4 MX. When I plug this card into my Athlon XP 1800+/MSI KT333 system I get no video signal. When I use a GeForce2 MX in the same machine it works fine. The power supply is 300W.

Now when I plug the GeForce4 into an old P3-500/Abit BX system it runs fine. This has a 230W ps. I am really befuddled by this problem. It wouldn't be such a big deal but I need to give back the GF2, and I want to eventually be able to run (and know it will work) a Ti4200 in my Athlon box.

and I am about to re-flash the BIOS on the card in the P3/BX box

update: I downloaded NVFlash (4.15) and the reference NVidia MX420 BIOS (my card is Chaintech) I made a backup of the current BIOS and then tested the new BIOS using vgabios and it worked fine. So I decided to go ahead with the flashing. Well, it got all the way up to writing and then said it timed out. Damn, now I knew the BIOS was erased. So I figured I would load the old BIOS that came on the card, NVflash reports invalid EEPROM. I have tried every conceivable option with NVflash switches and overrides. So I am now using an old PCI card while I have my AGP gf4 installed for attempting BIOS flashes.

So do you think it is time to RMA?

Is there a program/utility that can do what I need (force the writing of a BIOS on a card)?
