I installed Windows XP pro on the SATA drive without any problems. I then installed REL 4.0 on the PATA drive, and it seemed to go through the install fine. It detected the XP partition and made an entry in the Grub config etc... when I rebooted the machine went directly into XP, Grub was never loaded.
So I'm assuming that Grub saw HDA (the PATA drive) as the primary drive when the BIOS uses SDA (the SATA drive) as the primary drive. I used the boot menu in the bios (Asus A8N SLI) to boot off of the PATA drive and Grub actually loads. I'm thinking, great! Problem solved! Then when I select Windows XP I get the following:
Booting 'Windows XP'
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
chainloader +1
and the system just hangs there until I reboot. It boots into Linux without any problems.
Can anybody help me out?
