Problems with new wireless card - help!

I just got my new US Robotics 2410 wireless PC card today and I'm having all sorts of trouble trying to get it to see my AP (D-Link 614+). I've installed and uninstalled the drivers (ver 1.33 - both off USR support and the CD) at least three times, and nothing seems to help. I try to run the Configuration Utility that came on the CD, but I keep getting an "Unable to connect to the Network Agent driver" error - the manual indicates that this is normal if you run the utility prior to installing the card drivers, but I've already installed the drivers. arrgh! In addition, device manager indicates that the card is working properly and the light on it blinks a lot.

Here are the important settings:

Router
SSID: default
Channel: 6
WEP: disabled

Card
SSID: the configuration tab on the US Robotics Wireless LAN Utility doesn't have an SSID entry, only a Profile Name - tried 'default' and 'Default' - and Network Name - tried 'default' and 'ANY'
Channel: 6 (though it does scan other channels since it's not getting a signal)
WEP: disabled
Adhoc Demo Mode: Disable
Authetication Algorithm: tried both 'Shared Key' (default) and 'Automatic based on WEP security'

Any ideas?

Edit: Network Name is SSID. Tried 'ANY' 'default' and 'Wireless' on router/card. Played with preambles and flashed card to firmware 1.04.09.00, still no luck.

Edit: The Throughput box in the status window indicates that the card is receiving, but not transmitting. Don't know if that helps narrow it down ...

Edit: I neglected to mention that I have a Netgear wired router sitting in front of the D-Link router, so I only want to use the D-Link as an AP. So, how should I connect the two? Regular port to regular port? Do I need a crossover cable?

So I got the card to talk to the AP finally (yes, I've been working on it all night) by resetting the AP and running through the AP's setup wizard while having the card turned on - I guess the AP has to "see" the card when it's being setup.

Only problem now is that the AP has locked me out (admin password doesn't work) and it doesn't seem to want to reset anymore. :| To tell the truth, this thing (614+) has been getting progressively difficult to reset all night - I was having to pull all the cables and turn off the power for a while until it went into its latest protection mode.

Edit: I guess I'm my own best tech support. This says that you have to hold the reset button down for 10 seconds on the 614+ - they were right. It also turns out that the I wasn't really locked out, I had merely forgotten to change the default password after running through the setup wizard for the nth time. Ha ha hmm.

For those keeping a boxscore, a straight cable out of the router goes into the WAN/Uplink port of the AP, at least, that's what worked for me.

The only challenge that still awaits is enabling 128-bit WEP, but seeing as how my first attempt failed miserably, I think I'll retire for the evening.

Ummm... well, good luck with WEP. I guess the only consolation is that once the router/card is set up, it should work without any intervention for quite some time.

what is the OS?

If it's XP, then it does not support passphrase. WEP key has to me generated and manually type in (in hex format). ...and sometimes with XP...you have to go to the LAN properties...rt-click on the "wireless LAN" icon and then select VIEW WIRLESS NETWORKS...select your wireless ssid name in the list...and click on the connect button...you should be un and running.

OH, one more thing...if it's XP....make sure that the drivers are zero config compatible...so that they function under XPs and not conflict with XP's zero config (cuz XP is already "wireless ready")
