While I agree in the case of some of the chemicals used, just because chemicals have scary names, doesn't mean they're necessarily unsafe at all. That's sort of fear-mongering and pandering to these nutcases on the latest fad.
Hard to find attribution for that photo - snopes says it could be an abscess, or just pudding.I do not know what that is, but if it is the content of a bowel, that is a bad butcher. A proper butcher cuts out very carefully the heart, lungs, stomach and intestines of the carcass. And stores these for examination by a vet. At least that is what quality butchers do. When the intestines are cut open, the proper procedure is to not wash or wipe away the contamination (shit) of the carcass, but cut away a large part of the meat surrounding the contaminated spot. This is done, because the intestines carry bacteria that will be spread over the carcass when washed or wiped away.
The heart and lungs are saved to be examined. This way, the vet can see if the animal had a bacteria or virus infection when cutting open the heart and examining for example the heart valves.
Unfortunately, since the meat industry is big business and penny pinching has been done to the max, the proper procedures are not always done on every carcass and some not even at all.
EDIT:
Forgot the intestines and other organs. These are cleaned i guess and grinded for other purposes or to eat such as baked liver.
Is life worth living without processed meat?
Char causes cancer. Hell, vitamin C probably causes cancer. What unprocessed meat might look like:
Therefore - you fail.

Antioxidants have been found to accelerate the spread of melanoma once it is present.
That's messed up.Not a big fan of cold cuts, red meat, or bacon. I do like them hot dogs though.
That would be a fascinating problem to determine if eating 1 spinach salad per day, or 1 hot dog per day would more likely lead to an early demise.Which on the topic of real deaths from food..I probably have a higher chance of dying from a spinach salad or poorly prepared cantaloupe than a single hot dog.
Little do they say in this article that alcohol has been given the same classification. I've been seeing this pop up on Facebook a lot today. The BBC has a better commentary on it:
"It has now placed processed meat in the same category as plutonium, but also alcohol as they definitely do cause cancer.
However, this does not mean they are equally dangerous. A bacon sandwich is not as bad as smoking."
I sure hope it is pudding. If there are people out there that get free meat from the butcher... Ask yourself why he would not sell it... Then again, i wonder what a quality butcher does with contaminated meat, give it away ? For the dogs ?
