Hi, I am coming to the forums with the hope that someone has heard of this before and to make sure there's not something I'm missing. I would appreciate some expert help.
I purchased a P4-2.40A 533mhz FSB, 1MB cache 90nm architecture.
I also purchased an ASUS P4S800D.

At the asus site, it gives a compatibility .list for my motherboard. It states that this the processor is compatible at bios revision 1005. It was at 1005 and I flashed it again to make sure.
The problem is that it will not even begin post with this processor in it. The processor works in another board that supports it (supposedly). And, I know for sure a pentium 4 without the 90nm architecture posts fine in it. The fans spins up and the power led lights up and the drives initialize, but no beep codes and no video. There's not even a flicker from the monitor. I stripped it completely down to just mobo, psu, proc, power switch, and speaker..no beep codes.
So, I shipped the processor back thinking it was bad. The shop claims they can get it to post in a board that supports it. So, I do not have another processor like this one to try in this motherboard. The people who sold me the processor claim it's the motherboard. And the people who sold me the motherboard claim it's the processor.
I have discussed this with ASUS and they are of no help at all. They just say it should work and have nothing more to say about it. Has anyone heard of this or experienced anything similar? I only have 1 motherboard that will support this processor as well.
