Processor on an ABIT BE6

Whats the highest processor I can stick in my Abit BE6 Board? the abit site says 900 mhz I think, but I have a feeling it could be higher. Anyone know?

A while back i looked into upgrading a processor on the same board as you, BE6, and learned from msg boards that a 1 gig celeron (100FSB) works fine. If i'm not mistaken, most any celeron -or- pentium III proc. with 100 fsb will run without probs as long as you are using the latest Abit mobo bios. cheers.

that's amazing !.. i'm using the abit BE6 also and was looking to get a new CPU sometime.

But the BE6 is slot and i'm using a converter card to use my celeron500. Do u think the converter card will work with the new celerons ? And i'm using the original BE6 not the BE6 II or anything of that sort.

I just upgrade my old abit bx6 with a 900 celeron and a coppermine slotket.
From what I understand, it doesn't matter if the multiplier is supported by the motherboard
or not because it is just ignored. For example, this board's highest multiplier is 8 but it
works fine with this celeron. So, any processor of the same type should be ok as long
as it gets the right voltage. BTW, I used a startech slotket from buy.com for $10.
The newest celeron is about 1.3 GHZ @1.5 volt. But, the 900 is a much better deal.
I got mine(retail version) for $50. So far, it has made 1.01GHZ- 9 * 112 -and is cool.
However, the next bus speed I have is 133. As for slotkets, they must be for fcpga or coppermine
to work correctly. I hope this helps. good luck

My processor isn't the fastest that you can put in the BE6, but it is a 133mhz part. I have had the P-III 667 running in my board for about a year now. No problems at all. I am thinking about going ahead and upgrading soon, but I really don't know what I want to do... for the price of a 1g P-III I could probably get a new SIS board with an AMD XP and quite a bit faster.

hmmm.. you have the original BE6 ? because there were about 2 latter revisions to this great board...
