dell document are too general, depending on the revision of your motherboard and probably a bios upgrade would let you. I done several dells, some work great, some doesn't Check the revision of your mobo , check the dell forum through the communicate button on website. Usually, it's a quick bios flash and upgrade CPU but some old revision board can't take it..
update to the newest available BIOS and try to install a Celeron 2. (500 and up basically)
they should work but you might need a Slotket adapter to make the newer slot chips fit INTEL major mess up known as the slot.
So I can't just add a PIII with a speed boost? I have upgraded my BIOS to the lastest update (A11) and at about A06, they updated the BIOS for Coppermine processors. Has anyone with a dell done this before? I would like to pop that chip from the original post in (considering a 400 mhz jump in speed). Can anyone verify or tell me where to go to verify?
