System Monitor and MBM show 70 to 80 percent cpu usage when nothing is running. I shut down everything with alt-cntrl-del. I did a full system virus scan with newly updated virus sigs. I am using WinMe, T-Bird 1.2@1.33 with A7V133. System Restore is disabled. I have used selective startup to run the minimum apps. I looked in the Win.ini for something that is getting started and nothing is. Right now CPU usage is 50%. That is the lowest all day. Does anybody know why the CPU is cranking along at 50% to 80% when it should be at aruond 5 to 10? Thanks.:frown:

Beside the unusual CPU usage, is there any other strange behaviour like unexpected net traffic/connections?
(ie: boot the machine with min app, use "netstat" in command prompt to check)

Nothing unusual has been going on except that I noticed that a game I was running yesterday seemed to be having trouble. Thats when I started checking out the system. Just now tried to open a command prompt and windows tells me "not enough memory" to do it. I have 512MB Crucial Ram and swap file is 1000MB+. Might not be related but something is starting to look bad here.

when does this occur? and what's that game that u're having troubles with and what are the troubles actually? Your situation doens't look too good, maybe ur window is screwed up or something. Maybe u should consider to do some low-level formatting and reinstall the OS

If worried about a trojan, get this and run it. Also look for Tauscan or The Cleaner, other good trojan scanning software. Hope ya find the culprit!

this looks like a memory issue.. not hacking. u might have some issues with ur swap file or ur stack value, im not too knowledgable aobut the software, but i use to mess with Vmem alittle bit, so kinda familar. try setting all your mem timings at default and let windows manage ur Vmem again. see if this helps, if not u might have some bad sticks of mem. these are only suggestions and not the definit anwser. play with the set up a bit more and see what u get.
