Jees isn't TV censored enough - I'll never forget watching Predator on USA - one of the characters disappears halfway through the film and you're not told wh.

It works through the captioning that runs through television programming, videos, and DVD's. PROTECTV works with both the audio as well as the written captions that are available. Every time an offensive word is spoken it is compared to a dictionary of over 400 words and phrases and if the word or phrase matches, it is deleted from the soundtrack and captioning. The viewer will experience a momentary gap in the audio and for viewers reading the captions, the undesirable written word is replaced by XXXX's.

what happens if the captioning has already filtered those words...?

It's funny that Overstock, a Utah based company, would have these. I had never heard of these little boxes until I lived in Utah for a little while. You don't need one of these if you buy the special rating movies in Utah. They already cut out the bad stuff for you!

Utah doesn't like profanity, nudity, etc and goes the extra mile to filter it out.
