I am running Redhat 7.1 and am having a hell of a time with proftpd. First off it took me forever to install it with the mysql and ratio modules. I think that I finally got it installed correctly but the authentication is not working. I am not sure if it is connecting to the mysql server or not. If I run it in stanalone mode and try to connect it hangs when it gets to verifying the password. I also cannot get it to use xinetd to start up. I put a file in the xinetd folder to initialized proftpd whenever someone connects but it does not seem to be working. Is there anything else I need to do?
Basically anyone that has had experience with proftpd let me know if I am doing anything extremely wrong.
