I am thinking about switching to progressive because allstate is currently ripping me off.
How is progressive rated as an insurance company?

Thanks,

Tri

I'm not sure how they are rated, but as a Progressive customer, I've been pleased for the past year and a half for my auto insurance. Their customer service is also fantastic in my experiences, but that's limited to calling for different quotes and minor questions. I've yet to have to file a claim, and hope I never have to.

Have been with them for awhile, they are good, great rates, good customer service. Had to file a claim, no problems, it was done in a timely manner.

I've been with them 3 years. No claims but they answer their phones at any hour and the bills come on time.

Progressive customer for 5 years now. Being able to do everything online is great, especialy at times when I was switching cars every two weeks due to breakdowns or other issues.

We have Costco auto insurance. It's been the best and we pay half of what we did with our other insurance. I'm sorry, I don't know about Progressive, though.

QFT. Agents can get better rates and know of discounts they can apply to your account.

you mean like a middle man? like a travel agent.

so you gotta go thru them when u have problems instead of the 1-800 number?

My mom is an IIA, so I have some knowledge about this.

1. Yes, like a middle man.

2. No you do not have to go through them, but it can be beneficial to do so. If you want to call the 800 number and get some random customer service rep who doesn't have a vested interest in keeping you happy, then go ahead. The other reason to call your agent first (instead of the 800 number), is that they are able to advocate for you with the insurance company.

I beat Progressive by over $500/year by using an independant agent. Got excellent coverage, (so far, no claims, <knock on wood>) good customer service, billing is timely, and we get all the appropriate discounts.

I have had Progressive since 1996, and they have been great. I am paying around $1250 a year for two expensive vehicles and a motorcycle. I only have $100 deductibles as well....

I've been insured with Progressive for a bit over a year and I have no problems with them. Part of the reason that I went with them (other than their low rates) was because one of their drivers hit my car while it was parked in a parking lot. Within about half an hour one of their claims agents was there to inspect the damage and gave me a list of body shops that Progressive worked with. I took it to one of the suggested body shops (did a great job on the work too) and they took care of all the payments to the shop for the work as well as the rental car with no hassle to me. I felt like I was one of their customers even though I was with another insurance company at the time. That kind of customer services gets a big  from me and when I was looking for a new insurance company they were my first pick.
