Fi data and voice have been fine for me so far aside from the occasional slow transition from wifi to mobile data but I'm having the unusual problem of not being to receive SMS/MMS from anyone not on T-Mobile; I can send SMS/MMS successfully to those people, though. I filed a support ticket with Google so hopefully this issue is resolved soon.

I know this problem isn't widespread and the only thing I can think of that might be causing this is that my monthly contract with Cricket isn't up until today, so maybe the phone number port wasn't fully successful for whatever reasons.

It's so easy to try out project Fi and switch back if you don't like it. You already have the 6P so you really don't have much to lose. I came from at&t and I'm finding the project fi coverage is as good or even better. I'm really liking the transcribing of my voice mails on project Fi.
True, but if I switch to Fi, I'll want to take my number with me. I could maybe take the AT&T SIM, and transfer it to another phone and try out Fi on the 6P. I also use Google Voice, so it's been transcribing my voicemails since they first had that feature It works most of the times.
* you still get charged for international data in qualified countries(same $10/GB rate as domestic), and throttled to 256kb/s
True, that's what I meant. You phrased it better. On AT&T, I'd have to pickup a "passport" plan, and data can be spotty depending on location. Project Fi's calling rates are also way cheaper!

I was having some flaky issues with Sprint. Any time I tried dialing out on a sprint tower it said I had to purchase minutes. I got my sim replaced and it's been fine since.

I transferred my at&t number to project Fi with no issues. Google sends you a new sim card and then you initiate the transfer from the phone. I think it took about an hour to complete?

Fi data is kinda pricey at $10/GB.

I just use the TMo 100 min with 5GB plan. If I need more than 100 min, I just use GV or Viber.

And if you grab refill cards on sale, the price is only $26-$29 each month.

Depends what kind of user you are. For lower data use folks on ATT or Verizon it's pretty good. If I was paying full price w/ ATT my 6 gigs would cost ~$80, but I don't use anywhere near that amount (it originally was a 3gig plan but they just recently doubled it). A 6gig plan would cost exactly the same with Google ($20 base plus $60 for 6 gigs) except you get your unused data refunded. I only use 2-3 gigs a month really so with refund my total bill would be $40-50.

I have a discount w/ ATT that puts my plan down to $60 which is good enough for now... but I'm curious enough I might get a Fi sim just to see if coverage is good in my area.

I'm happy with cricket's 20gb $55 plan, but want a 5x. So, if I buy the $250+tax phone today with the minimum plan, activate it, then immediately end my service, I'll be able to keep the phone and just pay off the $20+ plan, I'll be good? I can just put in my cricket sim?

No activation or termination fees? It would be around $300, after tax?

You have to activate it with a plan. The minimum is $30 ($20 for the line $10 per 1GB). You can cancel it after you activate the sim. (no termination fee) So you will spend $230~$280 minimum plus tax for the phone.

Right. I'm figuring it will be a little over $300 after taxes. What if I don't use any of the data. Will they refund any of that $10? lol

I'm not sure what happens if you don't use any, but I've been only using about $2-3 per month, and they credit me back the $7-8 like clockwork. LOL.

Have been using Fi on N6 since last Sept, very happy with it, paid between $24 and $32 a month, never been a heavy data user. I moved over from T-Mobile and haven't seen any degradation in service.
Time to move wife over too but she does not want huge ass phone, 5x, I have heard mixed reviews... how is the experience of 5x customers here?
