With all due respect, she was probably attracted to you with your fine face. However, your nasty attitude showed itself and it didn't matter anymore that you had a pretty face. Alternatively, she may have found a guy of more interest. Just hope she doesn't ditch you last minute; hence shattering all of your prom plans, at least.

Human interaction is not a game of chess. There are not moves and countermoves. Anyone who thinks relationships are that simple is visiting a world of hurt on the other party.

Ask her some sincere, direct questions. That way you'll get the answers you are looking for. If she's incapable of answering your questions to your mutual satisfaction, call it quits till she is.

On a side note, you should have this convo. before prom and make it clear to her that you don't want your relationship status to interfere with either of your enjoyment of prom. You can still have fun at prom even if you're not dating your date.

That's a good point.

Basically whatever advice we offer, no matter how good, you'll completely ignore and do something terribly melodramatic that you'll still think about with a twinge of embarassment twenty years from now.

High school girls are a fickle lot. At that age, it's all about the games and the drama. Obviously no one is looking for "serious" relationships in HS. You think you are, and there are the few that marry their HS sweetheart. But take it for what it's worth man. You may like this girl, but you're what, 18? 19? Before you know it, you'll be in college, tappin a couple honeys on the side or in a "serious" relationship with someone else.

The point of my first reply was, just go about your business like you normally would. Quit pining over her and living your life like a Journey song. You guys are obviously still friends, you still chat, it's all good. You guys obviously haven't done any mackin this second go'round, so I think it's safe to assume that there are no sparks for her this second time around. She obviously considers you a good friend since she wants to go to prom with you, and in most cases, unless you're just looking to get some poon, it's better to go with a friend anyway.
