I have new Asus A7V133 with promise ata100 raind controller. Im not loading the promise's bios because Im not using the promise controller right now, but will be soon. I see in device manager that the Promise is listed as a SCSI controller. Whatss up with that? I downloaded newest Promise driver from Asus's web site which is ver 1.6 build 33, and tried to update from my current version which was 1.6 build 25. I went into device manager and clicked properties for the Promise, clicked on update driver, and pointed it to where I had unzipped the 1.6build 33 driver. It said windows was ready to install the driver, but when I clicked ok it asked me to put in the "Promise something or other" floppy disk. I dont know what its talking about. I clicked cancel a bunch of times and finally exited out of the driver install. Rebooted and driver still shows as build 25. I went to try it again, only now, when I point the thing to the newer Promise build 33 driver folder, it says the newest bestest driver is already installed, even though it is still listed as build 25 which is the older one. Was I suppose to make some sort of floppy disk after downloading the Promise driver? Was I suppose to uninstall the old driver first, or remove the Promise device from my system first before installing the build 33 driver? what can I do now to recover and load the newest driver that I downloaded?
