From the posts in this thread and past threads on prom, it shows me that a lot of you lacked a good social life in high school...

Yeah, sit at home while a good majority of your classmates (almost everyone except you) go and spend a great night together celebrating all the times you've spent with each other. Unless you had like 2-3 friends, you would regret not going and being a part of your prom.

Hi Kevin,

Just dropped by to wish you a good time

Sorry, but I've no tips, never been to a prom. The senior class before me pulled some pranks and as punishment they cancelled the prom for my class. Go figure :disgust:

I love how these prom threads bring out all the dicks around here. Went last year with a friend and it was great. Next week I'm going with the gf. Which reminds me, I really should clean the car at some point. I think someone else said bring comfortable clothes, which, if you are doing something after, which you damn well better be, (not inferring anything bad) you're going to want them. Um, other random crap, tell her parents something that will make them feel good about letting you take her; I don't know, anything, ?what time should she be back by? Also, even if you are just friends now, if you're going to someone house later, it's fine to cuddle or whatever; believe me, it'll be a whole lot more awkward if you're seperated and everyone else is with their bf/gf. Also, pictures are nice, they make your mom happy and they're fun to look at in a few months.

Since you guys are friends already, just hang out like you always do? Just in this case you're wearing non street clothes.

Well im back.

Her Dad wanted her back by 11:00. Early but i certainly wasn't going to say anything. I just politely said that was fine and talked with him while she finished getting ready. When she came out i told her that she looked wonderful (She did ).

After pictures, we left and went to dinner. Dinner was fun and we all had a good time. The prom was aesthetically nice but content wise we both agreed it was horrible. There was absolutely NO SLOW DANCES. When we came in NO ONE was on the dance floor so we went around and talked with friends, introduced each other. She said if a slow dance came on we would dance and i said that sounds fair. I told her that I didn't like to dance to the rap songs and stuff, so we ended up not dancing . Other than (Which was pretty major) everything went well, we had a good time, and we got to be better friends. If there is one thing i learned from this is that we will probably always be friends. It just didn't feel like either of us (Myself included strangely enough) wanted to be more than friends anymore.

So I got her home with 3 minutes to spare to show my responsibility. I went into her house and we talked with her parents for ~5 mins. I gave her a hug and then left.

So IMO, it wasn't the greatest but i enjoyed just being with her and talking with everyone just the same. I just wish we would have danced (ie: Made a slow dance).

I suppose im going to get a lot of flak for not dancing, but we had only ~1 hour where we could actually dance, and there wasn't a single dancing song there. Im a little disappointed, and ill get flamed but whatever.

All in all, could have been better, but it was an enjoyable night just the same.

It wasn't. I wont lie, i really wanted to dance, but neither of us wanted to dance to those songs.

It was fun just hanging out. For prom it was kind of a let down, but a lot of things happened, and we enjoyed hanging out.

Its all good.

Yeah.. i'm sorry man. Schools where no one is dancing = ftl ... and no slow songs either? .

Dinner & afterprom = as big as the actual prom (often the best parts..), i'm sorry you two couldn't do anything afterwards (11:00 curfew.. but I guess being a sophmore.. /shrug).

You dont know how reassuring those words are.

When people finally started dancing we had around 30 mins left. And then there were ABSOLUTELY no slow songs. Im sure she would have danced with me on the "thugin" songs if i would have asked, but neither of us really wanted to dance like that.

As for the Sophomore thing, yeah your right. It was nice to hang out and i love spending time with her and all, but you can see the differences between her and a Junior or Senior (I still had a great time with her though, and i hope she, even though i know she sort of felt the same way, had at least a halfway decent time).

WTH, ok, wow, if our prom was like that I'd say it was a waste of money. We always go to one of the big convention centers in Minneapolis (this year it's the river center). It's not even over until 11. The prom committee actually selects like half of the songs so they're not all crap (unlike the other dances) and it's essentially required that you hang out at someone?s house until the next morning.

About the sophomore thing, there are certainly different maturity levels in high school, but you really can't categorize people into them by grade, except freshmen (of course). My gf is a sophomore and I'd rather be with her than a ton of seniors.

So, how much did you end up spending?

My schools prom is tommorow night, but I am flat broke, and pretty sad about not going (only a junior). I will definitly go as a senior.

11:00 is really early. Hell, I am out later than that on the weekends, but I guess thats how it is until your 16-17.

That blows. Then again mine was terrible like that too with the dancing being lame and inside it was close to 100F while outside it was about 40F. So we left and fooled around at my place instead.

Next stop, Fraternity parties. Trust me, you've got the good years ahead.

All rap and no slow songs? Holy hell. I'd've personally kicked the DJ in the ballzack. :|

You did well otherwise, though.

Yeah... my prom ended at like midnight? Afterparty lasted until like 6am (school sponsored one at least, which kicked ass). Good mix of hip-hop/r&b & slow songs. He even threw in Numa Numa for kicks.. and everyone was dancing. Good times. I went to ... 4 proms in my high school years and didn't regret any of them... except maybe the one when I was a sophmore (was asked by a junior), but that was because we didn't get to do anything afterwards >_<.

Anyhow.. pics? I know you've got plenty =p. The first half-hour before dinner is practically spent taking pics iirc.

Holy crap, that sounds like the most boring night ever. This was supposed to be a FUN night?

Here's what happened at MY senior prom many years ago.

Four couples split the cost of the limo b/c it was so expensive. We all had after school jobs making like $3/hour.

All the couples got picked up. On way to the prom, we all had a few shots of booze; no tolerance back then, so we were all buzzy.

We stuffed our faces with food, snuck out to limo (more shots) danced our asses off. Took goofy pics. Danced some more.

Took the limo to an area of downtown where there were a few clubs. Used our fake IDs (they didn't care back then) to get in. Drank and danced until about 3:00AM.

Limo dropped everyone off at their house. Limo dropped me and the GF off at her house; my car was parked outside.

We drove to "the spot", got naked in the backseat and made with the birds and the bees until oh....probably around 7:00AM or so.

We got dressed and went to Denny's for a pig-out breakfast.

Dropped her off, went home and passed out.

THAT'S HOW PROM NIGHT IS SUPPOSED TO GO. Hooray for me and anyone who had a PROPER blast of a time at Prom.

ps
Though I wasn't plastered, it was still DUI. That was also back in the days where I drank and drove. Not proud of that fact. Haven't done that in many years now. I would caution all current prom goers to go ahead and get shiitfaced. But don't drink and drive. Please.

Yeah i know what you are saying guys. And it isn't her or my fault either ... I really wanted a slow song to come up; but the idiot DJ didn't do any of that. It was basically a regular high school dance only with everyone dressed in Tuxedos and Fancy Dresses.

It wasn't that boring in the sense that I got to hang out with her, hang with friends, meet her friends and show off how good she looked . Dinner was very cool. The only disappointment was the music itself. Neither her nor I really wanted to dance like "High Schoolers".
