I've had 3 surgeries in my life (all for knee injuries) and never had any complications with the aneshit. Sure, I could have lived with a torn ACL, it wouldn't have killed me... but I wanted it fixed. You can't fault this girl for getting something done that she wanted done. There wasn't a huge risk factor involved, thousands of people do it all the F'n time. Show a little compassion people. Its not like she had her friend cut her up in her garage and try to perform the surgery or something stupid like that. She had a bad reaction to something that most people react fine to and ended up dying at a very age because of it. Thats a sad thing and anyone who laughs at it or pokes fun at it is just a fucking piece of shit with nothing better to do in their life. Get off your fucking high horse.

"Board-certified plastic surgeon Stephen Schuster performed the surgery at an outpatient facility in Boca Raton."

It might as well have been in a garage.

it's not necessarily an OR-type procedure either. I think it's perfectly acceptable to be performed at an outpatient facility, as the procedure itself isn't exactly risky... and the complications were from going under. Patients can be put under at a dentist office! They don't have the right tools to handle someone having a rare lethal reaction either, and would have to be rushed to an area hospital.
The doctor was board certified, that speaks to his credentials and ability to operate. And the operation wasn't what killed her, so the outpatient facility part shouldn't even be a matter. The reaction to the drug is the issue, and I bet the same risk applies to some procedures certain dentists perform (some will put you completely under and do about 3 appointments worth of mouth work in one visit, since they have full control and can move more quickly with the patient out). Should somebody sue a dentist if they die from a reaction? I think the only thing that should be brought up in any lawsuit is whether the patient was informed of any risks from the drug(s) used.

You know that's not true. Medicine has moved away from a centralized hospital to more of a regional care process. This is to take the burden off of a single site and congestion from multiple sources.

She didn't die from anesthesia, she died because her heart stopped beating.

Apparently it took 1hr 40min before she got to a hospital, so if she had already been in one perhaps she'd have lived?

wrong

she died because neurons from the brain stopped firing towards the heart to command it to beat. The brain/CNS failed its duty.

maybe they tried to do everything at the outpatient facility and after an hours worth of work they realized it was beyond their control and needed the help of an ER? We don't know what they were doing, and that will come up in the lawsuit.
What occurred in that hour and 40 minutes will be important.

I love how some people assume outpatient facilities aren't equipped to handle surgeries or complications.....get a clue.

Rare metabolic reactions like hers can kill, even if you're at the best of hospitals.

Which plastic surgeon in the depths of the Amazon has done the implants you've seen? My wife's look perfectly natural unless you study them closely.

the point is, she died due to neglect on the offices side. they were administrating anesthesia and should have trained personnel that knew how to detect the adverse effects, as well as having the tried and true antidote on hand and ready to administer in case of emergency. she died because the staff sucked, not because she was gettin boobies.

oh, and repost...
