like it or not who you bang is not a civil rights issue. civil unions is what they should aim for. frankly thats enough.
and exit polls are a load of sh*t. if the youth vote went for obama, then prop 8 should have failed if they were so against prop 8 as well

How about my rights in terms of Domestic Partnership in a heterosexual relationship that are now very vulnerable thanks to this bullshit amendment?

Hmmm, let's see, so you want to get married? Pull down your pants... Ahhh! just as I suspected, get outta here!

Wow, I voted no and thought this didn't have a chance to pass (based on polls that I had glanced over while doing my research).

Boy was I wrong. I wonder how many of our fellow Obama voters didn't bother voting on this?

You can believe whatever you want, but to enact it into law is discrimination.

Thanks for playing.

I agree that it's discrimination. My argument was over everyone's insane stance that certain people in thread are apparently not allowed to think for themselves or have their own opinions without being ridiculed, nor can you group all issues into one big pot just so you can call someone a bigot one last time before you exit the thread.

Read my fucking posts next time. Thanks for playing.

But you can't have it both ways, the idea that you can be anti-gay marriage without being anti-gay is a fantasy invented by people who don't have the stones to wear their bigotry proudly.

While I support gay marriage and gay rights, I disagree with your statement. It's his right to believe in whatever he wants, and for you to think you have it all figured out is ignorant. Why can't someone be tolerant of gays, but not think they should allow to be legally married? The fact that you refuse to even somewhat tolerate his thoughts and beliefs also makes you a bigot.

Being "tolerant" and then ELIMINATING ONE OF THEIR RIGHTS is not being tolerant.

Well that's where you and I differ. I don't lump every single issue with gays into one big group. I think a person has a right to tolerate one issue but be against another issue. I don't see why it has to be all or nothing. You will never change my mind on that, so whatever I guess.

It's like one person saying they like vegetable soup as long as there are no carrots, then you respond and say that either they like vegetable soup with everything or they don't like it at all, there's no gray area.

I'm really not looking to get into an argument over this, I probably won't respond much longer. I just thought it was silly to judge a person's right to think for themselves when the very issue is about rights.

EDIT: Fixed minor typo.

Havent you driven all of the gays out of Kentucky anyhow?

No, I have not. Thanks for stereotyping, though. If you knew shit about what you like to respond to, you'd know that Lexington is home to one of the biggest gay communities in the region.

I'm not even sure why I came into P&N. You guys do not read posts, respond irrationally, and use people's locations in their profiles to stereotype without actually responding to my thoughts. Grow up, and learn to properly hold a discussion.

Non whites can live, work and enjoy the benefits of public space, but they can't marry whites.

I tolerate them, but think they should not be allowed to marry outside their race.

Therefore, I'm not a bigot.

I may be mistaken, but don't the people that are against gay marriage want gay people to marry straight people?

Bigot.

I think your misreading what he said, looks like to me he wants the no vote, which went from 47% to 48%, to continue to increase, like it has.

I think he wants it measure to fail. at least that how i read it. I think writing this kind of crap into any constitution is a bad idea.

You're right. Somehow I misread it, and apologize for the misunderstanding and my comment based on it to phreakah.

A few. It was reported tonight that the bigots went to minority churches where, ironically, the same people who benefit from civil rights and celebrate Obama, are anti-gay.

We had a mixed night with the historic election of Obsma not only as a non-white President but a Democrat shifting direction for the nation, and the bigotry against gays winning.

Seriously Craig. Get over it.

No. You get over your bigotry.

Voting against gay marriage does not make you a bigot or anti-gay. It makes you anti-gay marriage.

If there were a reason other than such bigotry to oppose it, I'd agree. After thousands of posts here discussing the matter, the reason is clear: bigotry.

No one has ever offered a justification for the discrimination, only excuses.

No, it makes you a bigot and anti-gay b/c you are against a gay couple from marrying.

I completely disagree. But have fun sulking.

You are quite flippant in your bigotry. You are an immoral person, Corbett.

Good point and interesting question. We can do some math:

http://election.cbsnews.com/el...8/state.shtml?state=CA

So as of now

McCain voters 3,693,865

Yes on 8 voters 5,163,908

So maybe as many as 1,470,043 (and I think it's safe to say that not all McCain voters went Yes on 8). Clearly I was wrong when I proposed that more Obama voters voting on 8 would have defeated it.

The voting for prop 8.1 starts later today, it adds just 14 words to the constitution.

No more fucking threads about prob 8 ever, ever, ever ,ever ever, ever, ever. Ok 13 words and 1 number.

I wonder what Prop 8 will be called next time? There's bound to be another, and another and another until it passes.

Ummm it looks like it is going to pass, and there isnt a thing the courts can do about it.

You should be asking what will the Repeal of Prop 8 be called.

I agree on your stance regarding opinions. However, we are no longer talking about opinions.

So you agree that prop 8 = discrimination? At least then we're on the same page.

I'll take your point re: calling people bigots. I'll start calling them discriminatory jackasses instead.

Another way to look at it, 6.125M Obama voters but only 5M no on 8 voters, so at least 1.25M Obama voters voted no (or no vote) on 8. Disgusting.

Some Republicans did switch over to vote for Barak, though, and I suspect they were a big part of the 'yes on 8' vote.

Prop 8 doesnt adhere to the D vs R debate.

It is ideological.

or rather

idealogy vs pragmatism

People voted their idealogy and failed to account for equality.

If they don't with this specific situation, its only a matter of time before they address the issue in some respect. As for what the decision will be, that obviously depends on the question and who is on the bench.

That's a little rich for my blood. I'd go for $5 or maybe $10.

I forgot to mention one other point -- I heard that this proposition was supported financially from out-of-state orgs -- and I strongly believe we should ban this sort of thing in California.

Where do these out-of-state organizations get off putting props on our ballot and then spending huge amounts of cash to affect the outcome of our state election? That's just absurd and I would say so regardless of the specific issue or who was behind it.
