Yes. I take in the same amount of protein every day based on my body weight. I take 1.5 grams of protein per lb. of body weight per day.
I'll second that.
So if I'm 145 lbs then I'd need 217g of protein?
that sounds quite a bit excessive
edit: I found a site that says 1.2 grams protein per kg of body weight. This makes a bit more sense, since for your 145 lbs that means 79 grams of protein a day
excess protein cant be too good for you...
Do you have a study to back that up? The bodybuilding community has been following the 1-1.5g protein / lb. LBM for years, and we're still doing fine.
Nope, none whatsoever. I only did a casual google search to try and find out some information and one of the first sites I opened provided that figure above so I figured the other poster might have confused his lbs for kgs.
As for excess protein not being good for you. I said that based on just common sense- since really nothing in excess is good for you, even water. Google "excess protein" but I really have no opinion on the things they warn about. Up to you to decide.
