It's just more evidence that the protesters are mostly paid. They didn't care enough to vote, but they care enough to walk the streets for hours every day? For $15-$30/hour they care enough! Of course don't read this the wrong way: the minority who did actually vote can still be paid protesters as well.
You're failing at basic analysis, and you're leaping to conclusions.
First: these are
only the protestors who were arrested. How many were there in total? Several hundred? Thousands? Reaching a conclusion based on a fraction of a larger group, when you absolutely need data from that larger group, is foolish.
Also, just because you didn't vote doesn't mean you're a paid protestor -- that's facile thinking. You need to show direct evidence that they were paid, because there are many other possible factors that could have led to their position. Those 35 people in question? It's only mentioned that they weren't registered to vote in Oregon. How many of them were registered in other states and simply showed up in Portland? How many are purely voluntary protestors who realize they made a mistake by not voting? I'm not discounting the possibility of paid protestors, but you need actual evidence of it, not just conjecture.
Plus, there's the simple matter of considering protests elsewhere. Are you seriously suggesting that most anti-Trump protests aren't genuine, and it's all just a sinister plot to oust him? That no one could possibly have legitimate fears about his racism, sexism, homophobia, big business corruption, overall incompetence or anti-environmental stances? That, to me, is ludicrous. Occam's Razor applies here: the simplest answer is more likely the correct one. It's far more likely that there's sincere concern than that this is an elaborate conspiracy to take Trump down.
