What the heck is wrong with that dog?
that's actually a syndrome of sorts... called something like alien limb syndrome or something to that tune... i'm only partially pulling that out my ass.
it's something where the limb kind of takes a mind of its own, kind of a brain disconnect and the dog doesn't know what it's doing, or that it's even its own limb. to be presumed that the dog isn't doing it on purpose or under its own control.
and dog's learn through experience, much like humans. However, we have a collective experience, especially thanks to mass communication: we warn others of our mistakes, and humanity as a whole tends to learn from a single person's actions. sometimes little experiences can be applied on a large scale and prevent the dog from taking actions that it deems would result in a similar outcome, even if it's on a grander scale and thus could mean an outcome more epic.
my dog took a similar tumble when it jumped from an open window of our parked van, except she was 15 or so, and kind of a dainty/frail body... gave herself a nice gash on her chin when he landed roughly on the rough concrete road below. we worried and laughed at her misfortune. damn 15 year old dog acting like she was 5 again. Lived to 17 before her failing body demanded euthanasia due to the pain she was in constantly... heart kept ticking, had a damn strong heart, but the rest of her body was failing. Still had bouts of energy that surprised us up until her last days, but she would get hurt when her body couldn't keep up with the energy peaks.
