Is the inquirer completely trustable? IF it was run on a PC, then it would be one that is the development kit, or a PC closely based off the PS3 specs.

I think I'm the only one that thinks the PS3 is priced reasonably for what hardware it contains (I never said it was better, but the stuff in there isn't cheap to make).

Better yet, does that mean there's a remore possibility that this game might be available for PC? :Q

I think it was coded for PC myself and was ported as no one in there right mind as programming would want to code something for the Cell CPU.

From the news on anadtech even Carmack thinks its going to be very difficult to code for the PS3.

All they need on the dev kit is a 7900gtx for graphics...

There is definately NO way that the PS3 is easier to code for than the PS2.

heres a link to back up the INQ

hexus, who have more credibilty took a snap shot of the rack mounts being used to run the PS3 demos

"First off, we?d better make it clear that actual PS3 machines, even ones remotely similar to the various incarnations we?ve previously seen, are nowhere to be found on the show floor. Well, we say nowhere? we did find a rather fetching display case showing off the latest version of the final PS3 retail unit, but all the games are actually running on development boxes. As these pictures show, they resemble server racks more than anything else?"

I dont know myself but you should read the news bit on the anandtech homepage where carmack chats about the PS3. The cell in particular.

From the brief part i read its harder because you have to make small amounts of code for each SPE then somehow link each individual code up to the main CPU and then make code for each of them to communicate with each other.. something like that.

Which in this case for normal CPU coding, AI is done in one, Physics is done in one... kinda like that.

I still am no expert but thats my interpretation of what was said. IF anyone wants to correct me, go ahead!

The dev kit was a custom SLI machine with an IBM CPU running a PS3 OS.

So....nope, nothing to do with a Win XP machine.

Who says it wasnt a PS3? Maybe it just wasnt in a PS3 case? (maybe for better cooling?) It IS possible they had a PS3 mobo, graphics, etc in a rack mounted server.

I dont own a console, and havent since SegaCD, so I dont know for sure. I dont follow it much. GT4 looked good on a PS2, why cant it look better on the PS3? with HD.

Really? Cause Carmack did say that this generation, unlike last, there are no consoles that are insanely hard to program for, and the PS2 was definetely the hardest to program for.

No its very reasonable, the slightly better 7800gtx is probably around the performance of a 7900gt which runs presumably $300 on the market today, give or take. The dedicated cell cpu to gaming must run them a pretty penny as well. Also we have to consider the blu-ray drives introducing a whole new technology of disk media, the bluetooth controller, ethernet/usb ports, Casing+controller, etc... i mean if the type of hardware was released to the PC market even at the release date of the PS3 ill bet it will still run over $600. But i guess after saying all of this, the 360 is also reasonably priced for its hardware. Just everyone is complaining about the ps3's price point, when Sony themselves must be losing a large amount of money for each console sold.

I think it is quite funny.....Sony continues to fumble the ball...LOL I'm sure it will be a nice machine,.....but they sure have a funny way of marketing their upcoming console. It is starting to sound like the VooDoo 6000.
