I kind of agree with you. The radar makes it too easy to know where enemies are. On the other hand, if they got rid of the radar, they'd need some sort of indicator to let you know where enemies were. At one point in Team DM, I was in West Holland and the enemy team had moved all the way down to the fiancial district. That's like 2 or 3 miles away. Without radar, I would NEVER have found them. So I can see how it serves a purpose.

I got it to work today, so it's not my router but there doesn't seem to be very many people joining my matches.

I think people are still playing through single player. I imagine the online portion will ratchet up some as people get through the main story (and realize that multiplayer exists; it's easy to miss on the phone). But yeah, none of the MP games I've been in have had more than 8 people, and that was one very one-sided game of cops and crooks.

I'm stil getting used to the controls in single player before I want to dive into multiplayer. Once I get bored of single player then I will be all over multi.

Not sure if this is the issue but I put my PS3 into my DMZ and I was able to get online. The TakeTwo support site lists a few ports that have to be opened up for online to work however it was working just fine on launch day without me explicitly opening up those ports.

Hey does anyones playstation 3 reboot everytime you quit out of GTA4. Mine totally shuts down and then reboots. I have a more recent 80gig version ps3 (motorstorm bundle). Just curious, not really causing any issues, just though it was weird. Only when i go to quit the game which so far has only been like 2-3 times, but each time the console reboots itself. Going to try googling for some answers but thought id post something first.

My PS3 has done that once. I think if you try to quit the game while it is loading something then it will reboot the system. Make sure nothing is loading / not in a cut scene and it should be okay.

Only if they send you an invite lol. GGs last night though! I'm not too big a fan of the race modes though.

R* has to fix their servers though, since stat tricking is still disabled/not working properly. Yet my character still has his clothes when I made it to Rank 2... but if I try to change something, that particular item will disappear lol.

So like... my pants options would look like 7/4, I change clothes, I only get to pick from the 4 styles again.

Does anyone have a clear idea on how the crouch and cover system works? Don't you disappear completely from the radar when you're using both? I know your ID/dot go away depending on what you're using, but there are times when I kill someone who isn't on the radar at all.

gosh darn it! Looks like I will be joining you guys if and only if a patch is released!

I popped in GTA this morning for the first time and after the initial HDD install it just stays on the loading screen. However, if I disable my internet connection the games works flawlessly with no freezes.

But I tried playing GTA4 online, but it would work for 4 minutes, then freeze.. music/sound will still be going on. I have NO problems in single player though.. Played it for 7 hours the first day I got it. About 25 hours total in single player so far. Not one freeze.

There is some server problems right now. Supposedly SCEA is adding GTA servers on monday and that should solve all of the multiplayer issues..

They say it will fix the:

Freezing at begginning loading screen (the game tries to access servers so it can send your stats when the game is loading but if the servers are full the game will freeze on the loading screen)

Connecting to games only to be disconnected almost immediately with the message that "you have lost connection to one or more game players"

Small number of players per match

Well... knock on wood it looks like they may be resolving the server issues. I can finally play multiplayer and get past the initial loading screen with no hangs whatsoever.....

btw...thanks dacalo for welcoming me to MP by running my ass over with the escalade
