If you don't care about any games with the system, then the 12GB isn't a bad purchase. It's the same as the ones with a HDD, but with the flash on the motherboard. You can put a hard drive in it but, if you do, you lose access to the 12GB.

But, if I had a choice between the 12GBSS for $150 and the 250GBSS with Last of Us and Arkham Origins for $200, I know which one I'd pick every day of the week.

The bundle deal is a steal, you can sell the games on Ebay if you do not care about either one and if your lucky you might get $30-50 each, which leaves the cost of the 250GB around $100-$140 excluding tax if you bought it local.

Stores should have plenty, but at those prices I am not too sure if they will be easily found?

I got the top loader model and think its perfectly fine. My launch fat PS3 bit the dust when GTA5 launched, so I bought the 500GB model. It is MUCH better than the original PS3. I actually like the top loader, makes it easy to get the games out without powering the system on. It is a lot quieter than the original both in disc noise and fan noise. It also runs very cool. The thing is tiny too!

I wouldn't buy a used fat PS3. You are just asking for a YLoD. They used non-lead solder that weakens over time. You will have a failure.

I use to have a PS3 3rd Gen, was great quality but I sold it after getting my fill of the games at the time. How does the Super Slim work in the vertical position, seems like loading discs would be a PITA compared to the slot loader.

Why don't people like the super slim? I've got the slim.

Sony is in a bad place right now with half a decade of red ink, their rating reduced to junk status and their need to sell off both of their billion dollar headquarters just to get back in the black this year. The stripped down revamp was created to be ultra low cost to manufacture in hopes of fattening profit margins. It's worthy of note that when Sony came out with it they did not pass the savings onto consumers like with previous generations; they kept it the same and pocketed the difference.

Yeah, the super slim should have been 150-180 normal price. It should be $100 this Christmas.

Then, at least, I could see a real point in the super slim.

They also had some flops and stiff competition from Apple and Samsung in other products and lost a lot of market share. I doubt the PS3 will ever best he PS2 sales figures, which is like over 150 million units.

PS2 was $99 in 2009, but it was on the market for nearly 9 years at that point.

So Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon all his this $200 bundle deal.

I've never done this black Friday thing before, but I want a PS3. Is this something I have to go line up and get? Or can I just swoop in at 7-8pm and get one?

How high do you think the desire for PS3s will be?

I don't know for sure, but I bet that they will be hot sellers at that price, even if they are old hat. There is a demographic out there that fits the price point and probably never bought a PS3 due to cost. I think Best Buy is open on Thanksgiving Day for the sale?

Unless you're looking for it for the weekend, just hit Amazon up. I imagine BB and WalMart will probably have plenty as well but it likely depends on how poor your area is.

Couple of great things the PS3 has over the PS4 are the DLNA server ability, reads external drives and USB thumb drives, plays MP3s and 3d blu-rays.

I was shocked that the PS4 in its current state will not play 3d blu-rays. Sad.

Makes the PS3 still the best blu-ray player around and it plays games too.

Yeah at these prices I think it is a hell of my buy if you also need something for netflix et al.

I just picked one up at a local Kmart, showed in stock did the online order and got confirmation after 1 hour then walked in and picked it up. Guy at the counter said they only had two available and they both sold. None were on display.

Hell of a deal, games though are sleeve packed not the typical case and are marked not for resale, so if you plan on flipping the games might be hard to get a comparable price. I was going to flip Batman, not sure now?

Well at least I won't need to burden myself with Black Friday crowds.

Ugh. I hate sleeved pack ins. I'd rather buy the console without games and purchase the game separately at that point.

Own 4 Ps3's. One original, two slims, and a superslim. Super slim is by far the quietest and my favorite. You can heard the disk spinning the fans are so quiet. The other 3 who knows as the fans are loud and louder.

$199 for the package was a no brainer, both games are easily $80 to $100+ on the new or used market for both.

That makes this a $100 250GB PS3 at the end of the day, even the 12GB Black Friday price of $149 is not a great deal compared to this.

I had the 120GB Fat Boy, was loud at full tilt. Sold it for a XBOX 360 now I am back to Sony. Read that the optical head is audible on the Super Slim, not really concerned too much.

I'm not wired that way. I would rather buy the $150 12GB super slim, stick one of my 2.5" SSD's in it and purchase a copy of Last of Us to get it in the case.

It's easier since I'm not really interested in Arkham Origins.

These game combo packages are desperate attempts to keep resale price high. Last of us and arkham can be bought for $80 combined on amazon now. I agree that is a great combo deal IF you want those games, but otherwise an annoyance.

$150 12GB Slim
$10-12 for Drive Bracket
$50+ for a 250GB Drive (if you don't have one laying around)

The 12GB Super Slim should be $99, the Xbox 360 will be $99 Thursday.

I do not put the cases on the shelf and look at them, what's thet big deal? I suppose if you got OCD for cases, than it might bother you.

I believe all the bundles are coming this way now, when I bought my first PS3 in 2008, it was the MGS Edition Bundle with MGS4, that was in a regular retail case, but the packaging was made to hold the game box. With this bundle, there is a breakaway folding door on the box of a regular PS3 that they slide the games in at the factory and then they put the PS3 box in a outer thin bundle sleeve with the artwork.

That is, the PS3 itself is in the typical packaging, nothing fancy. MGS had a custom inner box (White) with the thin cardboard outer sleeve.

Sony cut a lot of cost out of the PS3, packaging and bundles, in the end the game is still the game. I don't collect games, I play them and reality these take up less room on the shelf.

These are the games, the boxes have full graphics on front and back "Not for Resale" on the front.

Amazon prices, not sure what Amazon your looking at? Lowest ones I could find:

Last of Us (New) $38.20 + $4.98 Shipping

Batman: Arkham Origins (New) $41.99 + $10.99 Shipping

Total= $96.16

Not even including Tax if you have to pay it.

That makes this bundle quite a good deal, approx. $104 before tax.
