Those "rumors" seem to be gathering more steam, and I certainly wouldn't immediately discredit them... This was posted in the Official Xbox 360 thread:Originally posted by: waggy

a bump for E3 week...
There are also rumors that some of the PS3 games shown at E3 are shown with the console hidden up covered up (being a PC or XBox360!)
while the "game" may be running off a PC no way in hell would Sony do it on a Xbox360. not ever going to happen.

Sony is soooo getting owned at E3 this year (if this article is indeed true).
The story has been pulled but the link is still active. Still, this poster says:E3 2006: Xbox 360 Assassinated
Ubisoft Montreal's Prince of Persia influenced action game may come to Xbox 360.
by Douglass C. Perry
May 12, 2006 - Ubisoft Montreal revealed its next incredible project, Assassins: Creed, exclusively for PlayStation 3 at E3 this year, much to the delight of Sony console fans and to the dismay of Microsoft consoles fans.
A third-person action game in the vein of Prince of Persia, Ubisoft Montreal's newest title shows off the next generation with fantastic texture work, early but promising animations, and newly envisioned levels of Prince/Spider-Men climbing/traversing. But the game, officially, is strictly exclusive to PlayStation 3. Ubisoft officially would not comment on a possible Xbox 360 version.
According to sources close to the company, however, there are potential plans for an Xbox 360 version at Assassins: Creed sometime in 2007. Additionally, Microsoft sources who asked not to be mentioned by name, claimed the demo, hidden behind closed doors at E3, was running on an Xbox 360 using a third-party USB PlayStation controller. The game system was hidden in a stand covered by a sheet. Again, Ubisoft officials would not comment.
We'll have more soon.
edit: moreNo, it's true. Multiple people saw the 360 when seeing the demo, and it was a joke going around E3.
Ubisoft probably called IGN's marketing department and complained, who then ran up to the IGN warroom at E3 in a panic "Ubisoft will pull all ads if we don't remove that story about their deception on the floor!" And thus it was pulled. It's how things work.Bloody hell. Day of the exclusives it would seem.
While talking to a Ubi employee who asked not to be named, he accidentally let slip that Assassin's Creed is being developed on 360 as well. When we asked what 'exclusive' meant upon catching him out, he shut up, but we'll assume exclusive means 'timed exclusive'.
So there you go.

Queasy one of my friends who went to E3 saw the 360 and I think he actually took a pic of it. I know he actually saw the actual XBox 360 because he was telling me about it on Thursday or Wednesday, but I wasn't sure if he had a picture or not. He's sleeping now recooperating from the jet lag and flight last night, but I am dying to see if he did get a pic.

It's still much too early, but it seems like Sony got too ambitious this time IMO. I hope Sony comes through because competition is good for gamers, but I have also been hearing about negative things about PS3. Granted, the system is just a shell, but I have heard that PS3 is not more poweful than Xbox 360, difficult and complex to program, and really costly due to all the new technologies involved (and may be buggy).
But it's all speculation at this point.

Sony will be back even if PS3 is a bust, which I don't think it will be. They're a large company, they can deal with an unsuccessful system. Same with Microsoft. Even Nintendo is doing fine despite its relative lack of success with the GameCube. I'm sure the fact that they make many of the popular Gamecube games might have something to do with that.

That just shows that over the long run, people want a deep and wide variety of games over pure eye candy. The Dreamcast had killer graphics when it came out (compared to the competition) but the library of games just wasn't there. Same thing with the old 3D0, Jaguar, Sega 32X, Sega CD, etc.

it had awesome games! lol, but it just did not have a killer app. Another thing about it:
DL games, no mod chip, just burn and play! LOL!

Nintendo has never lost money on a console. That's why they're still in business (well, discounting pokemon which basically saved the gameboy and generated obscene amounts of revenue).

Yeah the warez actually was responsible for a lot of lost DC software sales contributing to it's downfall.
IMO the dreamcast actually has had by far the best launch of a console system ever. Great games, and I mean REALLY great games in almost every single genre came out with the system.
I love the dreamcast:heart:

I love my dreamcast too
Just that, I hate the controller, it makes my hands hurt, hehehe. But their attachment idea for memcard, and having a little 1-tone LCD screen was pretty cool. I mean, it beeps!!!
it's by no means a bad system. just that, err, when I found out my friend had hundreds of DC games, and I found out in what media they were in.. err. well, ya.
