ps3 vs. 360

so since the launch date for these two consoles, and with all the games that has came out for each system. which system, in your opinion, is better. this comparisons do include all the other functions of the console (i.e., console interface, media playback, exclusive downloadable games, etc.).

i have to say, the price of the 360 is pretty sweet right now.

Anyway, i got a ps3. I bought it when the mgs4 bundle came out. i dont have much time to play games anymore, and all the games i like are on ps3 anyway. main sell for me was blu ray since i bought an hdtv. i also use it as a media hub of sorts (which im pretty damn ecstatic about, i watch shows i put on my thumbdrive on my ps3 with great quality). all in all, i am very happy with it.

Well, that one is better than the other one at certain times and with certain games. Sometimes this one is cheaper than that one but not always because this one needs that accessory or something which makes them about even. But it all depends on how you use this or that and whether you like this one or that one. And that's all I've got to say about that.

Look at the exclusive games, what your friends have (usually 360s) for online, media features (Netflix subscriber streaming vs. blu-ray & non-DRM'd hard drives), price including accessories you'll buy (Live, wifi adapter vs. bluetooth remote or IR dongle). RRoD is almost a non-issue with Falcon 360s and will hopefully disappear with Jasper.

Which is better depends on the above and the priority you assign to each part.

Disclaimer: I owned a 360 a year ago, sold it, bought a PS3. Currently in the market for an Arcade bundle.

For $180 (Dell deal recently) it's VERY tough to beat the Xbox Arcade. Slap another $30 on there for a 20 gig drive and for $200 you have a wonderful console that has the deepest library of any current gen console and tons of low priced, quality games. You also have a much better online hosting service (Live vs. PSN) even though it costs money. Tack on the up coming Netflix partnership and it's a smash hit for the price. You've also got the media extender if you have Vista and want to use it as a makeshift DVR.

However, if you want to do more than just game, the PS3 is an incredible piece of hardware. DVD and Blu Ray playback is exceptional and high definition movies on a capable system are awesome.

I'm very bitter about the PSN network - it took me over 10 attempts to download the recent 2.5 updates. Demo downloads are a fraction of the speed, and gameplay support (voice and hosting) is much worse than Live. You pay for what you get. AKA...you don't pay...so you don't get as much.

They both have some very unique options - Xbox the Media Center Extender and Netflix support. The PS3 has Blu Ray. But for pure gaming and nothing else I think you need to look to the Xbox.

I have both a 360 and PS3. I bought my 360 in 2006 I believe and the PS3 was purchased this past August 2008. 360 wins hands down. Why? I don't know why but the 360 games just seem more refined and etc. My PS3 has been collecting a lot of dust... What I need now is a HDTV and I think then I'll start messing with my PS3 more.

You got nothing. You like 360 'cause you can yap on Live w/ your homies. There's nothing that makes 360 games different from PS3 games except for the money MS pays companies for timed exclusives and DLC.

Yes, I agree. I also have both, but my PS3 gets more use. My 360 sounds like a jet engine, and I hate using it. My PS3 is dead silent.

I've had both, and still have the PS3. The reliability of the Xbox 360 bothers me. I don't care that they are quick to turn them around, it shouldn't be happening at all.

It doesn't, at least not to any great extent. Anecdotal evidence suggests that failure rates are more like 2% now. That 10% RROD number on Falcons was only a WAG in some article.

The 360. I don't own a PS3 but many of my friends do. I am no fanboy but this time I prefer the 360. Last time the PS2 won my heart. This time I cant justify a PS3. No games that are "must haves" for me. I have HDTV but can wait for BR as I am happy with upscaled DVDs for now. If a killer PS3 exclusive game comes out and the price drops to 250 then maybe. But I am quite happy with my 360. BTW, my Wii is officially a monitor stand. Havent played that system in 8 months at least.

Typical answer from an elected official. Kudos for that.

Anyway, I'm a bit biased (though not really), for reasons some of you may be aware of, but in today's cross-platform world - where 3rd-party exclusives are a dying breed - the 360 is a better choice.

If you have a massive backlog of PS2 games that you play from time-to-time, the PS3 (the one with backwards compatibility) might be better. And if you want more media options - then the decision is less clear - generally weighted by the need for Blu-ray or not.

- Game selection
- Controller, if you prefer one of them
- Media capabilities (i.e. Blu-Ray)
- Online services (pay $3 a month for an arguably better service, or get PSN for free)
- What your friends have (great to borrow games and play online with people you know)

I like the Xbox 360 in my opion and heres why:

* Price is the best
* Games
* Seems to have lots of exclusive DLC for there games
* Can download old Xbox games, as well as movies
* The multiplayer is way better!! Free isnt always good...lol
* Load times are way better than PS3
* The new dashboard that will be coming out looks amazing and add lots of new features!!

I like the PS3 as well but I think the Xbox 360 wins hands down mainly because of the price...but I cant wait for a new Kingdom Heearts game for the PS3

And I also heard MGS was coming out to the Xbox 360 on a two Disk set(probably some extra features and also probably to big for normal DVD) so if thats true....what does the PS3 have that will beat a Xbox 360?
