Hi everyone,

I just recently bought a PS4 pro after a huge break withouth having a console. I mean the last one i had was like 10-12 years ago Yes i belong to the Megadrive/Sega Saturn/Playstation generation . Anyway my first experience with ps4 was Horizon: zero dawn, great game, liked it very much (probably wont find anything similar...). Then Uncharted 4. I have to be honest im not having much fun with it (Uncharted 4), i dont know i think it is too much cinematic so far, but maybe i should give it more time dont know...

Anyway can you guys advice me some good ps4 games i should try? Second hand or new...

Thanks

Bloodborne is almost a polar opposite of Uncharted. Eg, the cutscenes are kept to a minimum (by modern standards) and it doesn't hold your hand at all the way Uncharted does. If you liked the old Castlevania games, Bloodborne feels like a spiritual successor for the open world era. And it's less than $20 everywhere (though the outstanding DLC is also $20).

Thanks. The Last of Us Remastered is worth it?

It's amazing IMO. But it's by the same studio that did the Uncharted games, and shares the same engine. It's a very cinematic game, but the storyline is far superior to any of the Uncharted games, as is the stealth gameplay. Plus Joel and Ellie are much more interesting characters than Nathan Drake, his wife, his brother, and Sully. It's another game you can get anywhere for $20 so I think it's worth trying even if you didn't like Uncharted. But if you flat out don't want a game with lots of cutscenes then you probably won't like it.

Also, are you only looking for Playstation exclusives? So that there is no reason to recommend The Witcher 3 for example? (which is much better on PC)

Are you a fan of arcade style games? Resogun is still one of my favorite games to play on the PS4. I'd mention Geometry Wars 3, but it's not an exclusive to the PS4. Also, if you like Japanese RPGs, Persona 5 came out earlier this month. Although, Persona is a bit different than Shining Force, Phantasy Star or Final Fantasy, which I assume are the ones that you'd be used to given the consoles that you mentioned.

If you don't like Uncharted you probably won't like The Last of Us.

It got kinda shit on but I recommend The Order 1886 (or whatever the year is). You can probably get it dirt cheap now and it's a fun 8 or so hours of gameplay that is beautiful to look at.

The witcher 3 i already played on PC. Loved it! Another great game that gives you that sensation of fullfilment that just takes time to be able to experience it again. Maybe Horizon gave me that sensation again.
I Have to be honest i dont have a real appeal for Japanese style of games.

Rise of the Tomb Raider if you haven't already played it on PC. It has a lot of the light RPG elements that Horizon has. It has open hubs, not quite an open world like Horizon. It's more action than Uncharted 4. Also Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, if you haven't already played it. Inside, is a very short puzzle game, but it is very good. Ratchet and Clank looks really good, and it is fun, but certainly not a seriously dramatic game.

The Order 1886 is cheap now and worth the $12 or so it is selling for, but the shooting mechanics are a bit wonky IMO...the boss fights are horrible QTE, and the stealth sections are also QTE. The game looks great though, just as good as Horizon or Uncharted 4 IMO.

If you buy the Nathan Drake Collection, I think you will find Uncharted 2 and 3 have more action than Uncharted 4. I actually like Uncharted 3 better than 4.

I also am of the NES, Genesis generation and owned both. Then went PC gaming, since friends and family all had PS1, PS2 then I got back into it with PS3, now PS4Pro and looking forward for XB Scorpio. Regardless check out:

OPEN WORLD: Shadow of Mordor (pretty much native 4k on PS4 Pro), AC: Black Flag (best pirate game)
Doom (best looking 1080p/60 FPS game on console and the BASS!)
FUN:
Saint's Row IV (fun, funny)
South Park: Stick of Truth (hilarious)

Since you have the PS4 Pro, wait until you get to the epiloge of Uncharted 4. It's jaw dropping photo realistic. I really think they intentionally throttled the detail for most of the game.

Interesting. I couldn't tell any difference, but I'm running the PoorStation 4 Slim.

The two recent Tomb Raider games seem like copies of Uncharted to me. I love them though, as I do Uncharted. I thought every sequel was better than the previous, but I thought all of them were great games except Uncharted 1, which was ok but nowhere near as good as 2-4.

The Order 1886 often goes on sale for $5-$6 in Playstation Flash sales if op doesn't mind digital games.

Also The Last of Us often goes on sale cheap too in the Playstation Store sales. I think it was $9 (including the Left Behind DLC) for the Easter Flash Sale.

Hm, I guess that counts out most of my stuff. Although, Resogun is still an option. To give a little more detail on that, it's sort of a modern remake of the old arcade game Defender. It's a game that I'll jump into from time to time and just play, but I've always been into twin-stick shooter games such as Housemarque's previous game, Super Stardust, which is a remake of their old DOS game, Stardust. On that note, Super Stardust has also been remastered for the PS4 as it was originally a PS3 and Vita title.

Unfortunately, Resogun was on sale a couple weeks ago at Amazon for less than $2, but it's back up to normal price now.

Thank you very much for the opinions. I believe i will give it a go for the Uncharted 4 and Last of us, there are good deals around.

Rise of the tomb rider i played it also on PC Actually i always was (and am) a PC gamer. I mean im not an avid consumer of games, just like to play some good ones from time to time.
Anyway PC was always present since my childhood. I mean ATARI and Spectrum are not actually PC (my older brother had them), but then when my brother had his first pc (1998 i suppose) it was a real event Since then i slowly put aside console (last one being PS2 i believe) and from time to time do some PC Hardware upgrades. But even then i do upgrades like 5 or 6 years apart Yep its a bit since these last 10 years hardware is like chewing gum, always news even if very minor.
One thing i admire a bit about console games is that somehow they can optimize the games for a given console because the hardware almost always maintains the same specs. In PC hardware is always moving forward so you soon or later have to keep up with it if you wanna have decent gaming experience. Can you imagine i still have a Nvidia GTX 560 GPU Yeah but its my "fault" i have been postponing the buy of a new one Maybe rx580 or gtx1060 or Vega or.... you see the problem hehehehe.
Anyway back to the topic: Bloodborne, The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Shadow of Mordor,...
I think im still on Horizon zero dawn hangover...

Shadow of Mordor also has the lite RPG elements that Horizon has. The story isn't as good, and the world isn't as big and pretty though. The melee combat in Shadow of Mordor is better though. It's kind of like Arkham series combat with blades. The stealth is a little better in Shadow of Mordor as well...IMO. You can pretty much climb everything in Shadow of Mordor, or at least more of the terrain than in Horizon.

Hi,

Well i´ve played The Last of us. What can i say... at first it was underwhelming (too cinematic, clumsy/simple combat,...) but... well i slowly got hooked Honestly i was not expecting this after playing the first region. Big suprise. I believe it was due to the ambience and the slowly growing bond between the caracters. Graphics are nice but not stunning. Too the point of now beeing curious about the Last of Us 2 (maybe 2018!?). Even then i think that Last of Us is more "hookable" than Uncharted 4 (even if this last one as nicier graphics).
Anyway (and in a different genre) do you people think Mass Effect Andromeda is worth a try in the PS4 pro? Normally i would play this game on the PC but im considering playing it on PS4 Pro. Why?
Well first of all to able to play it in PC i would need a urgent/forced pc upgrade (mainly GPU, and that means at least 200 bucks not a good time) and second the reviews of Mass Effect Andromeda give the impression that, despite looking graphically better in the PC, it might be one of those games that its not worth a "forced" upgrade of the PC and it might be a nice option/alternative to play it on console.
What you think?

I doubt Last of Us 2 comes out in 2018. Naughty Dog only has 1 team at the moment, and they just finished Uncharted 4 a year ago, and at least some of them have been working on the stand alone expansion which comes out in August.

I'd say The Last of Us 2 is early 2019 to late 2020

Rocket League

Bloodborne as someone mentioned.

The Alien game is pretty damned good, epically if it is about $20 in the used bin.

Everyone is hooked on Horizon Zero Dawn for a reason. One hell of a single campaign game with plenty of hours required to beat it.

Prey com es out soon and I am hoping for good reviews. That's about 2 weeks away.

There is also a parkour style game that has vampire like creatures in it but the name eludes me. Awesome fun with friends!

Dying Light, amazing game. But you gotta buy the version that comes with the DLC, since the base game doesn't include the real ending.

Well, I'm the opposite and liked Uncharted but jumped ship on the last of us after several hours... so maybe he would like it. They play differently

The Last of Us is even more about the story than Uncharted. It is a decent stealth/survival game, but the story is more important than gameplay. IMO The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 both started slowly. The Last of Us took me about 4 chapters to really get into the game, and by the 6th chapter I was completely hooked. Uncharted 4 didn't really start clicking for me until they got to Madagascar, which was about chapter 10

I'm on chapter 15 of Uncharted 4 and I like that part 4 has a lot less gun play than the previous ones did. It's a lot more exploring, climbing and just taking things in.
