Meanwhile, the Xbox One offerings are pretty crappy. Child of Light and PoolNation FX are the only ones I could even be bothered to play. The first is a decent (but really easy) RPG platformer. The second is an OK game ruined by load times and the most-awful game navigation concepts of all time.

PoolNationFX is probably the worst Games with Gold game available. The whole game mechanic is just stupid. It's like the game creators never played pool before. :\

There have been plenty of good ones IMO:

Max:The Curse of Brotherhood
Guacamelee!
Super Time Force
D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die
Child of Light
Massive Chalice

Of course there were some real stinkers too:
Halo: Spartan Assault
Crimson Dragon
Strike Suit Zero
PoolNation:FX

Kind of my point, though. You list 6 games, and 4 were at least partially platformers, if not primarily (STF has some platforming elements, but isn't really modeled as one). On top of that, you didn't mention two other well-received games, Chariot and Rayman Legends, which are also platformers. D4 didn't interest me at all, and I haven't looked at Massive Chalice for a second because GWG has disappointed me so greatly at this point.

Spartan Assault, I couldn't enjoy on a phone. As such. I didn't bother playing on my One, but I'll probably give it a shot sometime. It seemed OK, just not something to get excited for. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition should be a GWG title in the next couple of months, to ramp up RotTR interest. That, or go with Ryse, because no one's going to bother buying it anymore, and it might earn them a few DLC sales on a console-exclusive title.

Question. I just ordered an Xbox One with 1TB drive plus Halo: The Master Chief Collection for $400 from MS. It also came with a free game and $50 store promo/credit. I grabbed Batman Arkham Knight for the free game since Witcher 3 wasn't available. Was that a decent deal or should I back out why I have a chance?

That's a good deal. It matches what most places are doing minus the $50 credit MS gave you.

That's why I bit. Amazon had a deal for the 500gb console with a free game, extra controller and 3 months of live the other day.

I wonder if the price on the 1TB will drop to $350 anytime soon? If not then I'm in good shape. I might even sell the Batman game (if it's possible) to sweeten the deal.

I have both systems. I pretty much keep my single player games on PS4 and multiplayer games on Xbox One. I will say that I am looking forward to Fallout 4 and even though it is a single player experience I am going to get it on Xbox One.

If you're into sports games EA Access is really nice for $30 a year. I like both controllers fine with me leaning more to PS4 controller, but I've been PS2, PS3 player and just this year grabbed an Xbox. I think more bang for your buck right now is with Xbox with them offering games, Microsoft money, etc. Plus, you will want a bigger drive with either system and the Xbox made it easy to just plug in an external drive and go.

Yes that is a good deal. I got the $349 AC Unity/Black Flag 500GB bundle after $100 PS3 trade in credit and thought it was good deal..yours is smoking!

Thanks! The deal I got is also available with a $100 trade in credit. I didn't mess with it though. Some folks even reported talking the MS store sales people into giving them a copy of Unity.

One nice aspect with either system is that you can just use their web portals to "purchase" the free games. Doing that allows you to buy games that you currently cannot play, which is handy if you've only got a PS3 or Vita but are considering a PS4. I also use it just because it's a lot faster to just "buy" everything.
Are you able to download those games any time you want as long as you're a live gold member? I found this at the bottom of their live gold page.

**Games with Gold Offer for paid Gold members only; Active Gold membership required to play downloaded Xbox One games. Each participating game (selected by Xbox) available for download from Xbox Store during specific window; available games may vary by country. Some titles may only be available for download by adult account holders 18+. Kinect and/or hard drive required for some games. Offer available in all Xbox Live countries where Xbox Live Gold memberships are supported. Offer is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and cannot be combined with any other rebate or offer. Offer terms and availability subject to change. Taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of member. Download charges may apply as set by your ISP. For Xbox Live Terms of Use and system requirements, see xbox.com/live.

I might think about buying an Xbox One after Forza 6 comes out.

To be honest, its the only game on either console, that I would miss. Most games are multi platform, so if I want long enough, I can play them on my PC, patched and for relatively cheap (thanks Steam).

While I think the PS4 is the better console, it doesn't have any exclusives that I would really want. Street Fighter 5 is great, but I'd rather get it on PC. I have two arcade sticks that it will hopefully work with.

That being said, I don't know if it is worth paying all that money essentially for one game, as much as I love me some Forza.

Because they're gross. Glossy tech is ugly. White tech is ugly. Together, they just look disgusting. The only saving grace with the 360 was that it was matte.

Matte is better than gloss? Hmm well I have to see it for myself. It depend sometime I think one is better than the other.

It's not a problem with white, but on the black Xbox, half is matte and half is gloss. The glossy side scratches like crazy, and shows every one of those scratches (they don't show up on the white one like on the black console).

I mean that's your opinion. I've seen them, and find them hideous. I find white electronics generally ugly, like the iPhone and Windows Phones and consoles. Plain white is just an ugly look on electronics (generally light colors aren't my thing). I only like the Titanfall controller because it's got a bunch of colored accents.

For me I was getting tired of everything being black. My A/V rack is black glass, AVR is black, Tv is black, all the consoles were black, black speaker grills, cable box is black, cable modem is black. The white makes a nice contrast and I think the PS4 with the blue power light on the white console looks nice and the XB1 looks a bit sleeker to me. Really it was just that black is too common for electronics and I wanted something that stood out a bit.

the point of electronics being black (as well as a/v racks and tv stands) is so that they don't distract you when looking at your tv. the majority of people have them set up in view when looking at their tv. a darker item will be less noticeable, or possibly not even visible if the lights are off, whereas a white item will stick out like a sore thumb.

but yes it's all just opinion. i wouldn't give a f what my stuff looks like because it's all in a closet behind where i am looking.

My AV stuff is below the TV so when I look at the TV I can't see the other stuff. It could be yellow and it wouldn't exactly stick out like a sore thumb heh. I just kind of ignore everything and focus on the screen.

You can buy 3rd party PS4 gamepads that are designed like the Xbox gamepads. I've seen them at Walmart.

you could see a white box much more than a black box blending into a black a/v stand in your peripheral.

Only when I'm looking at it. When I look at the screen I focus there and ignore everything. That's always how I've been.

I get that but to me I'm so different. I wish they made a white 4K HDTV. I want my PS4 to be either Gold or Red or both. I want my Xbox to be Teal or Green. Those things never distract me, then again my room is the color of a yellow highlighter. :sneaky:

Does that mean you can play 360 games online on Xbox lives for the Xbox one?

Yes the online play will be useable for backwards compatible games. However this has nothing to Do with that. This is taking about what games will be free for gold subscribers in July.
