Not sure where you're getting those opinions from. I don't even want to waste my too much time to debunk you. Shadow of Mordor is 4K nearly 95% of the time. Use your own time to waste debunking it.
It's been mentioned before that the ps4 pro will upscale the games. Not all of them but most recently developed ones. While this isn't native 4k, most of the differences in detail can be seen from a 1080p display, especially if you have a 4k TV with HDR.

Upcoming software update 4.50 brings boost mode to all non-patched games. Holy hell. That changes things. The only games that could have problems are the ones that rely on animations tied to specific frame rates, regardless, you can easily toggle it on/off.

That's awesome. Games like Witcher 3 would definitely benefit to greatly from this. Makes me want to start it again just to see how it runs.

That's awesome. I was wondering if something like this was possible but assumed it was not since it never happened. Could be a game changer, no pun intended.

I'm on the 4.5 beta software. I haven't tried any other games that are not compatible to see what it does.

Anyone notice how long Sony emails take to come in? Tried to login today and it said I needed to reset my password. It told me they sent an email but it's been over 2 hours and I didn't receive anything.

Got my 4.50 code email from PS noon yesterday PST and immediately left work early, it's a Friday anyhow and installed the update. Always, always make a backup! It's very simple and takes only 5 or so minutes to backup everything minus game installs.

PS4 games I have without the pro patches are Fallout 4, Darksiders II, and Uncharted Collection. Fallout 4's patches are coming out next week. Reading many early reviews from others matches my experience where many games appear to be capped at 30. I really didn't notice much difference with F4. Same 30 target FPS as before with stutters here and there due to CPU multitasking texture/game data streaming. DSII was already 30 FPS, no difference with beast mode.

I haven't installed the Uncharted Collection yet, perhaps later this weekend. Uncharted 1 @ 60FPS would be killer and very doable, they already do 60FPS with multiplayer with one of the Uncharted games.

What was interesting was Return to Arkham's Arkam City. There was a patch that Digital Foundry found enabled beast mode with uncapped frame rates reaching 40s-50s, but a 2nd patch was released that capped it at 30. Well you can install off disk without any patches and to me at least it does seem at least 30 with beast mode. I am not measuring the frame rates. There's no need. Any person can tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS without metrics.

So, so far, in beta release Beast Mode gives us our money's worth with the extra power in the PS4Pro to reach minimum 1080p/30 for all games, instead of artificially downclocking it. It's not 60 for all games, but I'm not complaining. You know damn well MS's Scorpio is going to have Beast Mode, might as well call it Best Mode. These are good times for console gamers and I wouldn't be too surprised to see a boost in sales.

By the way, the external drive feature works very well. Almost as good as MS. When you remove the drive the game is installed on you just get a nice exclamation mark and when you run it tells you to insert the drive. I still plan on testing to see if you can use multiple different drives, or different drives at any time and if you can use that drive on another PS4 and play the game as long as you have the game disk or login, if it's a download.

Have you tried an external drive which gets its power from the USB port?

I still can not access and sign in to PSN after the 4.50 beta. It keeps saying I need to reset my password.

I've entered my email and it said it sent out an email for me to reset the password several times but I never got anything.

Yes, the external drive I used is a USB powered portable drive. 4TB, you need at least 250GB I think, pretty similar to XB1.

Speaking of XB1, just found out how to join preview builds. I'll try to keep it short since this is a PS4 Pro thread, but many have said it's by invite only and that MS is no longer advertising for more testers, but on the Xbox1s you can request to be included just by downloading the free Insider Hub app and requesting preview firmware updates there. It's also a very good feedback app compared to PlayStation where they encourage reports/issues on their beta forum.

The wonderful experts with the right tools at Digital Foundry have frame rated Boost mode. There are games capped to 30 that now are frame paced 30 and uncapped games that now reach 60FPS far more often. Without boost the PS4Pro, matches the base PS4's GPU CU amount (18) and GPU/CPU clocks. With boost both CPU/GPU is boosted, but the CUs stays the same. They proved this with Knack comparing non-boost, boost, and PS4 Pro patched. Each had a boost in performance.

Other improvements are with loading. They didn't test game loading, but have noticed game texture streaming is improved. Others off reddit also report improvements with game loading, surprisingly EVEN when using an external drive over USB! It appears as if the CPU boost helps and clear that the PS4 storage system relies on more CPU attention.

I also want to kindly remind myself and others lucky enough with the 4.50 beta to not report things that Sony hasn't already revealed. In the email sent out with the beta code is the confidentiality agreement, 2nd paragraph in bold. Luckily, Sony in their Blog/Press Release already has exposed all the main stuff, including external storage and Boost Mode.

I'm pretty surprised to hear that there are enough games out there that can't hold 30 fps to make boost mode worthwhile.

I'm not because common practice these days is to crank the graphics until you get "around 30fps" it seems. There are many games that just can't achieve a solid 30 without more graphic compromises. I remember reading about Insomniac when they used to push for 60fps in their games but sacrificed a bit on graphics to do it. They said that nobody commented on the 60fps in reviews but always trashed the graphics. So they decided to push graphics and drop their target to 30fps. The fact of the matter is that graphics sells the games today.

Anyone else got Kingdom Hearts 2.8? I'm about the last person on the planet to notice, or care about, frame drops. I have never been able to really notice 30 vs. 60 FPS. However, playing BBS 0.2, it hiccups quite a lot. It's nothing close to smooth, even outside of combat. It's not a nightmare, it's just very noticeable, by my low standards for frame stability.

No it was my Gmail. I had to go to their support center and chat with an agent who was able to reset my password. Not sure why I never got the email. Checked my spam folder and nothing there. Once the agent sent an email with the link I received it almost instantly.

your gonna have to start a web chat with them. This happened to me the last time they force reset passwords back in like september. the email would never come to my personal email addy, and it was not getting hit by the spam filter

i had to chat with them and got them to change it to my gmail addy which works fine, the only risk is that i needed the serial number from the playstation i first used to create a PSN account - that happened to be my OG PS3 which i amazingly still had
