ps4 vs xbox one

Kratos is dead and they already did a prequal. How much more GOW games can they make? Not that I'd complain but I'm skeptical they would make another for PS4 unless they already announced another or something. Seems like they went through most of the greek mythologies characters already.

Well it doesn't necessarily have to involve Kratos, though I see then conflict of calling it God of War without...you know..involving the God of War. Perhaps they can do a prequel involving Ares. Another option is to call it God of War but only abstractly and focus on other parts of the universe. Just a thought. If there is a dollar to be made they will figure it out.

I'm confident Sony will figure out how to monetize it for the PS4.

I think I'd rather see a similar gameplay but with different characters and story. I mean it's a hack n slash and certainly one of the best one's ever created, if they could transfer that gameplay with giant bosses to a new IP, I think it would do just as well.

My impression is it's more reliable and polished. However, PSN gives away pretty decent games with its membership--far better it seems to me than Xbox Live did. Recent examples are Uncharted 3, Xcom enemy unknown, Borderlands 2 (that one was recent, but it's still a $30 game), and Bioshock Infinite is coming up next month.

When using PSN on the PS4 and XBL on the XB1 neither has anything over the other when doing gameplay except for the following in my experience.

1) You cannot mute XBL players properly and everyone uses their kinect so you get tons of noise that you just can't get rid of easily. It was such a simple task to mute all on the 360 and it is easy to avoid people chatting to you on the PS4 if you aren't interested.

2) The store that is setup for the XB1 IMO is not as easy to navigate.

Other than these two things I don't find either to have a big advantage.

I think XBOX Live has gotten worse over time in regard to accessibility. Everything is just so darned buried. Normally, I would just use the web-based store, but even that can be a pain to find things. The biggest issue is that when I search for something, it shows me a bunch of junk that I don't care about that is slightly relative.

Now, I will say that PSN has gotten better, but to be honest... was there really anywhere to go but up when it came to the PS3's PSN Store? Although, I still use the web-based store to get the free PS+ games. It's just easier since there's no automatic device-based filtering.

If you're going to claim something like that, why not give examples? I can only think of Fez as being an xb exclusive, and eventually came to PC. Flower, Flow, and Journey were all PSN exclusives.

Xone live gold downsides aside (it will change with time imo, virtually free eventually doing the jeff bezsos ) XBO wants to be the complete HT media center matched with the proverbial win7/8 homepc etc...something windows media center/player never quite achieved.

Q, how is Xone interacting with the cable box, YT is still sparse with uploads but hopefully Xone owners have rip and TiVo type DVR control or is this down the road?

I dont see those games. Besides titanfall I see nothing that stands out right now. Sony has 3 exclusives that caught my eye that will be out before the summer. Infamous, mlb the show, and driveclub.

I haven't found a lot of info on other titles that have placeholder dates.

The ones I'm really looking forward to:

Titanfall (this one will be a system seller).
Halo 5
Insomiac's Sunset Overdrive
Fable Legends
Quantum Break
Project Spark

Maybe it is just me but aside from a few titles or specific studios anything that is listed as a shooter I skip over. That's probably why I have the outlook I do for next year. I want more action games and open world games with perhaps some RPG elements and less shooting a gun at someone for 10 hours. Not that they are bad games all the time, I liked BioShock and I am a fan of the Halo universe, but I guess I have grown tired of nearly every game that gets any type of press being a shooter of some type(first or third person). If they end up good I may buy them but I dont look forward to them the same way I look forward to playing watch dogs for example. I feel kind of similar. It's probably why I have really gotten my fill of super simple FPS and shooter games over the years. I probably played 20,000 hours of Doom 1/2, Quake 1/2/3, UT Series, RTCW/ET, and by the time we started getting annual COD games I started to glaze over. I played BF2 and BF3 a good bit, mainly because I felt the combination of objectives, vehicles, and large maps helped expand the experience a bit beyond what I'd already played a billion damn hours of, but now with BF4, I can't find myself motivated to go power up the rig for it very often. It's a great title, and I've been lucky that I almost never have any trouble with it on a technical level, but it just doesn't feel different enough from BF3 to motivate me. And COD, well that's just pathetic.

We have new consoles, let's hope we get more fresh air kind of games out there.

What? I own both and like the ps4 interface better, the better handling of voice communication and friend lists, the better game DVR, the twitch streaming, and the controller.

So yeah I have tried them both and still have a preference. It is my opinion that the ps4 is simply the better gaming machine due to these factors. Now, I can't play forza or killer instinct on a ps4 so I have to have the xb1.

because you get which one has the games you want, not what console everyone else tells you to get. if more people prefer the ps4 games then it will be the one that more people choose.

i personally have played my ps4 about 2-3 hours total since november 22nd and don't plan on turning it on probably until march when infamous comes out, or possibly the end of this month if i end up getting tomb raider. but i might get it for x1 instead if i get it, not sure.

i play my xbox1 almost daily.

Of course you will give a speech about why you bought the lesser version of multi-platform games because "that's where my 'friends' play" or "I don't like that controller", the rationalization was common last gen and will continue forward this gen. Pretty baseless accusations. If I bought 2 cars and expected to drive both equally as far as time, but I ended up preferring one way more than the other, then I'm going to drive one car way more than the other.

He has both systems. If he prefers the XB1 then it makes sense to get the multi platform game on XB1...

That said, I just recently tried the PS4 controller the other day at a GS. Definite huge improvement! But I think overall the MS design is still superior, even though I don't like the XB1 controller as much as the X360 controller.

Let me just say that purebeast has been on these forums talking about the ps4 since he won one from taco bell. He didn't buy it and he has mentioned playing knack to completion (10 hours?) and a bit of killzone. So he has more than 3 hours total on the console. What he actually said was the date nov22 which is when the xb1 released. He is saying that after the xb1 release he has not played much ps4. Simply because the games are different between them.

As for myself I have played more forza than any other game. I have finished knack, dead rising 3, killzone, assassin's creed, and am part way through ryse. I also play killer instinct casually. So even though I prefer the ps4 as I said above, I have given my xb1 more play time.

It's 100 dollars cheaper. The hardware's more powerful... and I thought it would have more games in the long run.

I thought that the PS4 actually had a significant advantage on media features (you can use more headset types, the browser is 5x faster and can be used with Plex), but it wasn't a major deciding factor for me, since I have other devices to use for that sort of thing.

I might buy an Xbox One eventually, but so far MS has been letting me know that I shouldn't. Forcing me to buy a Kinect isn't going to fly (I HATE motion controls, I HATE them), and Microtransations on Killer Instinct, Ryse, and Forza, has diminished my trust in MS's pricing models... So... I'm actually leaning towards skipping the Xbox One entirely. I can live without Halo, Bungie went multi-platform anyway.

ah ignorance is bliss. i own ryse and ki and haven't had 1 microtransaction nor do i plan to and i've finished ryse. forza i'm not sure about though.

I'm astounded by the level of "pretentious asshole" you achieved in a single post. Very little in the history of AT has been more ignorant or unfriendly.

He didn't even spend $400 on it. He got it for free from a Taco Bell sweepstakes (yes, people do win those). His opinion is based purely from his experience from a console he got entirely for free, so there's no bias from spending his money on it. His opinion counts more than most because he actually owns both... and I hope you do too or your post is even more embarrassing and baseless.
