last time I checked, you can get an iPhone for $0*

obviously, there is much more to it than just the price that makes people prefer Android over iPhone

Never seen a Nexus 4?

Not really a fair comparison, I drop my Galaxy Nexus all the time and it's got essentially no damage (curved glass prevents it hitting face on for the most part). I've met far more iphone owners with broken screens than android.

No, but if it is all glass that's the same stupid idea. Thing is, there are plenty of non-glass Android phones to choose from. For apple, if you wanted the newest at the time, that was your only choice was a glass phone with funky antennas.

Nah. I like choice. I like having some control over my stuff. And I like my freakin' back button

TBQH, using all the phones I've ever owned as my 'sample'...my research indicates that cheap creaky ABS plastic tends to be the most durable, simply because it has some give to it.

Not trying to make excuses for cheap devices; it just honestly seems like the truth. It's like cars and 'crumple zones.'

I've literally thrown a G2X in a fit of immature rage and it survived, but it didn't survive the next one ( ). I've dropped my Exhibit II 4G 10+ times and it's still going strong.

I'm sorry, but some cheap devices just happen to be great and some don't. When you factor open-source ROM options into the equation you get cheaper devices that are better than a closed-dev/expensive(but extremely metro) option.

On an unrelated side note, I strongly dislike that Microsoft decided to name it's new Windows interface 'Metro'. :\

"press once more to exit" WTF DOES THAT MEAN?

are we talking about android phones?? whenever i press back on my android phone, it goes back. if there's an app open and i press back through to the main menu of the app and it asks me if i want to exit the app, i hit ok. i don't understand the complexity in understanding this.

Yeah that was sarcasm. Pretty much every app behaves like this these days.

No.

In just the time I've spent with Android, I know that the behavior of Back is unpredictable. You just might have a selective / delusional memory.

You can have an other row of icons now.

The best thing about it was definitely the ol' iPhone i love you (When Android phones were getting much bigger) "I don't want it bigger anyways, it fits my hands perfectly"... then iPhone 5 comes "OMG ITS BIGGER!!!! I LOVE IT!"

Victims of marketing.

This is a good point. Samsung gets slammed for using "cheap plastic" on their products, but it's actually done on purpose. Glass and aluminum get cracked, scratched, and dented very easily. High-impact plastic does not. Those that do not cover their fancy glass covering with a phone case soon end up with a broken phone...and if you're going to put a case on it, who cares what it looks like.

I also have a Galaxy Nexus, and have a simple rubber sheath on it. It still looks brand new after 1+ years in my pocket.

My experience is the same as eits...you hit the back button to go back to the previous screen. If you're out of "back screens" in your app, it will take you to the previous app (which is what is being demoed in the article you're showing). I've read those "it's unpredictable" articles, but truthfully never really experienced the issue.

It's more of a poor vs well to do rather than a race thing. Like it or not, Apple IS the standard when it comes to smart phones or tablets. Everything else is just a knockoff product. The ONLY way to change that perception is for the competition to deliver a new and refreshing product. Android manufacturers haven't done that. They've delivered a similar performing product, which isn't good enough. Apple redefined what a smart phone and tablet should be. If Android wants to have a brand image like Apple, they need to innovate and quit catering to the lowest common denominator.

BTW, Android still doesn't have an answer to AirPlay. And no, DLNA is not the same.

Explain.

Caveman- really? That screen is a joke. It will tell you what is consuming the majority of your battery, but I hope you're not actually using that number as a guide for battery life.

My 1500mAH battery is now averaging about two days. The negative: that took some tweaking. The positive: I wouldn't have been able to do a damn thing about it on an iPhone.

Possibly, but you likely wouldn't have that issue on an iPhone to begin with. There have been battery issues in the past but all I had to do was update my phone when a fix was released. And it lasted an entire day to begin with.

Just over the weekend my iPhone 5 lasted me 2 days with over 30% battery left by the time I let it charge at the normal time I do daily anyway. I very likely could have left it off for another day without issue.

That's mostly because it can't multitask. If you can only actively run one app at a time, of course you will have better control of battery life.
