PSA: Androind phone users- Navigation is now called Maps

Google updated the Maps app for Android, so don't freak out of your Navigation icon is missing, as it's now just called Maps. Might want to try it out before you need it as it's completely different.

I still haven't gotten the update yet but I'm perfectly fine with waiting as they iron out the bugs and put stuff back that people clamor for.

LOL- I had 4 relatives call me this morning frantic because they were going places and their Navigation icon is missing. Thought I'd spread the word before someone gets lost.

PS: I haven't had a "Navigation" icon in forever. I thought that was part of 4-2-2

I never used it much, but I thought Google Lattitude was a really awesome idea....I'm gonna miss it, even though I think a lot of people don't want to be "tracked" by family/friends.

Honestly I never launch navigation from the blue arrow, I always did it through maps. I set the default button on search result bubbles to be navigation, so once I searched a place it was one tap to start navigating. For saved places I just always used Google voice search.

My phone is ancient (1.6) Will be interesting to see if I get the update or it just quits working I use it all the time. If they take it away, I shall be quite irate.

I have both, and have updated to Maps 7.0.0. Still using Android 4.1.2 on a TMO HTC One though. I'd have to check my 4.2.2 Nexus 7 at home later to see if it still has both or not. Don't much care on the tablet though, as its not used outside the house.

I sideloaded the 7.0.x Maps APK and still see the Navigation app icon.

My only complaint is removing the option to show a scale bar...that's kind of important for a map.

I was serious about Mapquest. Google doesn't work well for me. I typed in N Beverly Drive and it sent me to W Beverly Blvd. I verified that it didn't try to auto correct.

I just checked and Mapquest thinks I'm exactly where I am. Google thinks I'm a quarter mile away.

The navigation just sent me through the absolute worst part of a town today so rest easy it is still functioning normally.

Good to know. I haven't actually used Maps or Navigation since downloading Waze, though. Now that Google owns it, I'm not sure which will be developed more and be better in the future.
