PSA: buffalo RAM

ok people, just because these guys dont have fancy ram sinks on them doesnt mean it isnt good ram. i see people recommending Corsair, HyperX, OCZ EL, etc... to people but there is hardly any mention of buffalo. 512 sticks of pc3200 for $90 guys. much better value than XMS or HyperX. also, this stuff performs great. i've had 2 sticks. both ran 5-2-2-2 at 200 mhz and ran 228 mhz at cas2.5 (almost pc3700). all for $90. dont overlook buffalo as high performance memory. btw, the only reason i have XMS in my system is cuz i ordered it from googlegear back in may for $94 (before i know much about buffalo)

While I've never used them, I have noticed that when Intel releases a new motherboard, Buffalo is always one of the first to be on the tested/approved compatibility list.

the next time I purchase ram I plan on getting either the PC3700 or PC3200 variety of Buffalo. I have heard so many good reviews of these guys and its so cheap so why not eh?

I just put 2 x 512 Buffalo PC3200 in an 845PE rig for someone. I was not impressed. I ran it DDR370 which is 30 Mhz below its DDR400 rating. I had to run it 2.5-3-3-7. The mobo didn't have Vdimm adjustment. Maybe some extra Vdimm would have helped. For $90 a stick it was a good value, but not a stellar performer in my case.

Yeah mine needed 2.7 volts to run at 400, but that same 2.7 volts took it all the way to 426 @2,2,3,6 in an 845PE rig.
