I don't remember seeing a backpack on anyone with an actual suit jacket but see backpacks over a shirt/tie combo all the time. I don't know what to think of the people who wheel around what looks like luggage to work everyday. Sometimes it looks heavy, sometimes it looks like they're a pansy who holds everyone up at steps.

lots of people in my office use backpacks (non indian) and will sometimes myself. i see nothing wrong with it. most of the ones i see people wear are Targus backpacks solid black or red. i have never seen a adult wearing a power rangers backpack if i did i would point and laugh.

Indian guy + white girl, guaranteed. All my brown friends lust after the "ice queens"

you are correct but I tried dating Indian girls and it was horrible. Most of them were high-maintenance, spoiled, and very selfish. While most of them were attractive, smart and goal-oriented; hardly any were athletic (important for me).

I have a few female cousins and I feel bad for the guys that put up with their drama.

indian girls who were raised in very americanized households turn out like this. you have to find the ones with a better balance of indian and american culture...those are the gems like my gf

Not that hard to get a laptop bag, I dont really like briefcases though seems like they would be a pain to carry. Im in school still and I dont even use a backpack anymore.

If someone can find a way to make the Indian/Pakistani men shower and/or use deodorant, I'll gladly let them slide on wearing a backpack.

That is one aspect of the DC metro system that I don't miss. Ughh, just the thought of it is nauseating.

What about using a messenger bag? Holds almost as much stuff and has a short handle if you're too stuffy to use the shoulder strap.

I bring a backpack to work. It carries my laptop, lunch and running clothes as I usually run home from work. Oh, noes. I didn't realize I was wearing my pajamas!

Stories from the professional world:

When I started my job, we were all given a backpack with a laptop sleeve and a company logo on the outside. Use it regularly and great for business trips.

My company did the same thing.

I abhor messenger bags and briefcases. Backpack makes the most sense since it is symmetrical, but I wouldn't wear one with a suit...

Here is the deal, most of these awkward dressing Indian guys you see are on short term consulting visas or H1. They will likely not stick around here for too long. Those days of everyone with an H1 getting sponsored for a green card are gone. Also, they have several opportunities in India once they have that American experience on their resume. So they want to maximize their experience, and minimize their expenses. So they probably don't care what a few people think about their backpacks. It gets the job done.

That's what I actually expected this thread to be about.

Take a fucking shower will ya?

(and cut down on the curry...that stench doesn't ever go away)

Really? Who the fuck cares. Find something better to do with your time than worry about what other people wear.
