i'm guessing the hay bales weren't very solid so his "belly flop" ended up being more of a dive and he hyperextended his back/neck.

So he was "forced" or "coerced" into drinking 3 beers. But he then voluntarilly drank more?
By the time he walked over to the Alpha Tau Omega house, he had drunk four to five beers, Holloway testified.
And this drinking wasn't even at the fraternity?

This is an open and shut case of sh1t happens. I went to college; I was in a fraternity; I did plenty of stupid sh1t. I didn't get hurt, this guy did. Sh1t happens, and it sucks.

This guy, in no way shape or form, deserves $25 million. He also doesn't deserve to have his medical bills paid for. It was no one's fault but his own. It's a shame that hardly anyone in this country can take the blame for their own actions.

that's not even hazing

he is totally responsible, the pool was for rinsing off, not for belly flops

People need to take responsibilty for their own actions. Chugging beers due to 'peer pressure' then doing something stupid is his own fault.

Holloway plans to graduate from college and become an art teacher. He said he also wants to get married and have children.

Please no - this was a clear message from darwin - you are not fit to reproduce.

Seriously - this guy has nobody to blame but himself. He should get nothing/zero/zilch/nada/$0.00
Next thing you know somebody will fvck themselves up jumping off a parking garage and sue the owners because they didn't tell them it wasn't safe to jump off of a parking garage

I'm glad this gimp is in a wheel chair, well maybe it would have been better if he died. Lawsuits like this piss the hell out of me. Stupid asses not taking responsibilities for their own actions.

No one told him he had to bellyflop, he decided on his own. He states he drank 4-5 beers but only the first three he was told to do so. Therefore we can assume he decided to drink another 1-2 on his own. Even if they did tell him to drink 4-5 beers I can't believe it would cloud his judgement that much to hold them responsible, I mean who gets drunk on 4-5 beers?

He states "I didn't dive because I understood the dangers of diving,". Well boy I would hope so in 1 foot of water!

Even though it's sad what happened to him all you can say is that he is a moron and is totally responsible for his own actions.

He will probably win, because property owners are responsible for personal injury.

I do not agree with it, but it is true. How can someone completely protect the public from their property? You can build a fence around your yard, and if someone hurts themselves on the fence, you are at fault.

Same thing goes for the pool. They built a pool, he used it incorrectly and injured himself. They are liable, but shouldn't be.

Absolutely. I was in a Fraternity, and they never forced us to drink. I could have said no. More importantly, you don't go into a fraternity and NOT know that you'll be doing some drinking.

This guy can fvck off. He made a mistake when he was drunk and wants to blame someone else. What a b1tch.
