Just a little update

We switched our dog to Wellness Core Ocean at first she ate it alright but then she decided that she did not want it any more, we then bought the normal version which is meat and she eats that with no problem. We are now through a 8lbs bag and a half of food

Our Groomer says her hair is better. She is just as normal and supercharged as always. We hope she regains a darker coat but time will tell. She defiantly eats less of this food then she did the other and her stools are fuller.

She is happy and we are happy

I used this site to decide to switch to Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance for our cat food. Made a huge difference in the health and coat of our oldest cat (we suspect he has a wheat allergy), and is cheaper than the lower quality Nutro Natural that I used to buy (though we were using Purina One for a while due to cost).

I thought I would update this since we've made another change.

While the DVP's Natural Balance food was a huge improvement on others we've tried, we had to switch again. The problem with the food was that it lacks some basic enzyme or something that caused our cats shit to stink really bad. We had been giving some canned food in addition to the Natural Balance and had no odor problem, but once we stopped the canned food it changed.

We now use Taste of the Wild's "Rocky Mountain Feline Formula". No more stinky shit, and the price is actually less than the Natural Balance.

What's good about this food.... ....and what's not so good.
Chicken meal is first ingredient, grains are pretty solid, avocadoes are great ingredient, flaxseed, herring meal is another meat source. Rice bran isn't a good grain.

Review:

Avoderm seems to be a better dog food than it is a cat food. Chicken meal is the first ingredient, and herring meal is found further down the list, to ensure that the meat proteins are of good quality. This food contains no by-products, corn, wheat, soy, or animal digest. The grain of choice for this food is rice, which is the best you can do for digestion, but rice bran is not a good form of rice to be feeding, nutritionally speaking.

The avocado is a very interesting ingredient, and I believe it to be pretty unique to this food. It provides many vitamins, beneficial fatty acids, and provides for a good coat. This is a quality ingredient. Flaxseed is included for a further good fat source, which is great to see.

Overall, it's a pretty good food. I'm impressed by this one.

Taste of the Wild, Nature's Logic, and Before Grain are the only 3 foods at 4 stars or better that are available in my area. All 3 are affordable and seem to improve my dogs skin itching over the cheap brands.
