This company has gotten all fucked up. Unless of course you want to buy a laptop preloaded with https breaking malware and to have your windows license to stop working in a few months. Not to mention having their tech support log onto the computer and end up putting a rootkit on it because of how filthy their support computers are.

Yeah I always hated how much crap they come with, same with Toshiba and many others. Good hardware, horrible software. I stick to HP and Dell business computers and put my own clean image on them.

Exactly. There are soooo many excellent PC companies out there with cheap prices and good service, why would anyone pick Lenovo over any in that very long list.

I bought one Lenovo machine (a T-series Thinkpad, when that was one of the best-respected computers on the market) years ago. It was, to this day, the most expensive machine I've ever bought, and my experience was so negative, both in terms of the hardware and Lenovo's shitty customer service, that I returned it and will not be going back to Lenovo. In those days (and perhaps still today) they prided themselves on having US-based call centers. What that meant, from my standpoint, was that rather than dealing with a polite and knowledgeable person in India, I was dealing with a rude ignoramus in Atlanta. Thanks but no thanks.

I've only had one experience with Lenovo customer service (3 years ago), and it was horrendous. And this was regarding a fairly expensive laptop...will not buy again.

Heh, good to hear. Went with ASUS when we bought a laptop this past Christmas. As much as they have SOME issues (lack of easy driver support for Win7 vs Win8) it still isn't that bad as far as issues go.

Their touchpad in the T440s is the worst clone of a Mac touchpad I've ever had the displeasure of using. Software wise, I have no qualms with reloading using the OEM key to have a nice clean installation but I can understand not everyone wants to do this. Speaking of which, I have received a T440s that has a burned out touchpad that I have to get in touch with Lenovo over a replacement. Wish me luck.

My Lenova X220 has been going strong for years, no issues. Lenova dropped the price between the time I ordered and the time it shipped. I called customer support and they gave me the lower price. <Shrug>

Doesn't matter where I get a machine from, first steps are always reformat and reinstall from my own media.

The x1 carbon got the worst keyboard ever. My place of work started getting them and everyone hated them. If someone works in the mainframe all day the touch keys at the top is a nightmare for them.

They put the FN key at the top with the touch keys and you then you have to scroll through that row to get the correct keys you want. I think there is 3 different rows of keys.

Meh, I have one for work and a personal one (i3 for roughly $300 from officemax).

Both are fine hardware wise. The trackpad on the work one sucks, but 99% of the time I use it docked.

For me, I nearly never need tech support. Unless it's a hardware problem, it's not their issue. And in terms of bloatware/crapware, I am starting to see that stuff come from reputable software packages. Adobe??? No I do not need to install your McAfee AV package when I am happy with something else.

All in all, the process of owning a computer these days is not easy. Avoiding crap software is not easy. So like most, when I get something new, I just either clean it up or wipe it and start it fresh.

It's too bad they've gotten that way. They've always been decent machines.

Really I hate how most OEMs even preload junk to begin with. You're already paying them money, they should not be trying to make more by loading spyware and junk. It should be OS + drivers and maybe an office suite and AV, that's it.

Isn't it the policy of Microsoft that systems purchased through the MS store come without junkware installed? I have purchased a couple of things from the MS store and they were clean when I got them. Maybe that is a better option than buying from a B&M store where you know a reformat is the first order of business.

Never use the preinstalled OS distribution that came on the computer. Always at the very least delete all partitions from the drive, repartition the drive how you want, and then install the OS(es) of your choice.

thats been "step 1" of "things to do" ever since packard bell started selling their piece of shit 286 ibm compatible machines.

I work for the state and we use almost all Lenovo products right now, and hardware wise they have been decent. Their on-site warranty service is quick and has been always available to help within the 48hrs or whatever it is.

We use our own in-house images though, and do not use their OS installs or customer service for anything other than the onsite warranty though.

Way better than the CTL systems we used to buy.

I switched to Apple about 5 years ago, and haven't looked back.

The people who complain about Apple's prices are too myopic to see past only hardware prices. I know with any of my Macs, I do not have to talk to Indian customer support. I can also drive to a local store and receive excellent customer service from an American.

I got a b50 touch AIO PC last week, that thing was full of malware..I googled it, and found this article: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2887392/lenovo-hit-with-lawsuit-over-superfish-snafu.html

I had to return it thou, because best buy screwed up order/listing, they advertised the machine having an Intel i7 processor with 12GB of RAM for $899, but they shipped me the one with the i5 processor with 8GB of ram, and told me the ad was wrong, you can't buy an AIO with i7 for under $900. I knew it was too good to be true.
