You really don't understand the purpose of heels, do you?

They flex the calf muscle and tendons, causing everything up the line to tone in as well - quads/thighs/glutes - making everything look a bit more tone and shapely. They also cause the lower abdomen to compensate for the different walking posture, flexing and pulling it in slightly as well.

(Women: Please note, I'm not saying this is a practical benefit as over the long term this will likely cause lower and mid-back issues, as well as put undue strain on the ankles, knees and hips which may lead to long term joint issues. But I'm not a real doctor, I just play one on TV.)

I think the effect is overemphasized so that now women wear them or are expected to wear them out of tradition rather than an actual desire to get the leg-shaping effect. I really don't think they have such a pronounced effect on a woman's appearance as some people think. Sure they do something but it's not worth it.

If a woman's got the goods, she can look good even in flats. If not, heels won't automatically turn her into a supermodel. Surely there are ways of enhancing her appearance that don't lead to long-term joint injuries?

Some women look really good in pants. It varies from person to person. Whatever is the sexiest is what you should wear.
