Someone who has cultivated shame for their secret enjoyment of brussel sprouts might be a bit overzealous in their insistence that they don't like brussel sprouts. The second person would probably mock up some strong emotions against all things brussel sproutish in their attempt to put as much distance between themselves and their ignominious culinary wickedness. This is just a tendency that people have and that observant people can easily identify for what it is.

A normal heterosexual person shouldn't feel the need to invest any strong emotion in something that has so little to do with them personally.
