The oil companies are killing the economy. Instead of money spending on stuff that would benefit the local economy, poor people now just spend money on gasoline and IPhones.

Exxon’s Torrance refinery is restoring operations after losing power Oct. 1. Phillips 66 (PSX) is scheduled to perform work on gasoline-making units at its two California refineries this month, two people with knowledge of the schedules said. A Chevron Corp. (CVX) pipeline that delivers crude to Northern California refineries was also shut last month due to elevated levels of chloride in the oil.

Yep, collusion and greed.

Jesus, why is that the first thing people look towards. You know businesses do have issues.

How does that not help economies? Please explain.

Damn those greedy fuckers who enable your lifestyle of leisure! If you don't want to enable them, stop using their product. Otherwise, shut the hell up. You are not entitled to anything. The sooner you learn that, the better off you'll be.

So price fixing is OK as long as the product is a luxury?

Never mind anyone who lives in a rural area where driving is the only realistic option to get to work.

Correction:

Gas has gone up 56 cents since Sunday. It was 4.75/gallon on my drive home today. Kinda glad I got gas on Monday. >_<

Collusion anyone?

Are you serious???

Have refiners switched from making summer mix to winter mix gas?

And has that west coast refinery got back up to speed? (IIRC, I heard on tv that it actually makes a lot of diesel and jet fuel, so price spikes might be more marked in those areas).

Price of crude has dropped noticeably, so bottleneck has got to be somewhere else:

He's getting warmer...

Summer/winter changeover, tanks down for maintenance, pipeline delays, loading rack delays, shortage of tanker transport, shortage of ethanol, the list goes on.

You think Costco wants to run out of gas? They don't give a flip how much they have to pay for it, they adjust their price accordingly, as soon as the last delivery based on the rack price. They do price bidding in real time... you call them for the source, they poll the rack prices, you have 2 hours to pick it up.

My source: Gas and oil supply business for 7 years, including inventory control and ordering for a very large convenience store chain in LA and San Diego, among other places.

You can't be serious??? The iPhones bit was a joke, but the spending money on gas is definitely not helping the local economy.

Oh no, no collusion, no price gouging, nothing going on here you fucking puppets. Just pure, unadulterated RECORD profits quarters after quarters after quarters.

Insanity! $4.65 at the corner station as of yesterday!

Officially the highest gas prices I've ever seen here.

Went from $3.85 to $4.15 in one day due to the Richmond fire and we have been hovering at $4.20 - $4.25 since then. 40-cent increase in 3-days due the current supply issues.

Insanity!

Yeah, ever since the Electric Power Generators were found to be colluding ,with ENRON among other generators, I find it harder to believe otherwise. Greedy bastards are Greedy and will do anything to scratch that itch.

Infinity mpg on mine

My commute is 30 miles one way. I used to work 10 miles from home and did the commuting by bicycle thing 2-3 days a week for a couple years. Can't do it now and up rooting my wife's business and my son from school isn't an option.

Short lived? Bullfuckingshit, it NEVER goes down as fast as it goes up. Mobil down the street was $4.19 2 days ago, $4.63 today. Even Arco went from $3.99 to $4.23, the Tustin Costco is closed also.

And the wholesale price of gas is up a dollar.

California had its largest single-day gasoline price spike in almost five years Thursday, leading to long lines at the pump, gas shortages and even station closures.

Experts said the price increases could continue for weeks and the average might even break the $5 mark. Already by Thursday afternoon, at least five Los Angeles area gas stations had crossed the $5 per gallon mark, according to GasBuddy.com, including one charging $5.29 per gallon in Burbank and another at $5.11 in Norwalk. One station in Calabasas was even charging $5.69.

"We are looking at the highest California prices ever," said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for Oil Price Information Service, which compiles the price data for AAA.

This is America, I can say whatever the fuck I want, even when I'm an entitled asshole. Do you drive to work? 'Cause I don't.
